found this on internet. I never knew there was a female custom maker. Her name is Emily.

Don't know I spelled her first name correctly, but her last name is Takahashi. It's a Japanese name.

There are actually quite a few women making knives.

Harumi Hirayama
Judy Gottage
Lora Sue Bethke
Dellana
Dianna Casteel
Carol Gurganus

I'm not sure all those mentioned above are still making knives.

Maggie Fikes is also making some knives.

Wolf Loerchner's daughter-in-law (her name escapes me) makes some really beautiful knives. Murray has a small hunter of hers that is as graceful as can be.

Her name is Barb. (I have tried TWICE to give her an order for a similar knife to Murray's and for some reason she doesn't think I am serious. Too bad. :( )

Have been looking (well, at least looking for one I can afford) for one of her knives on the secondary market for a few years now. Any idea what one of her little folders is going for these days?

Same here. In the time I've been looking, I have seen a total of 3 of her pieces come up for sale, in 2 occasions (i.e., one of those was for 2 knives). I like her work very much, but I'm afraid it inaccessible to me.

I saw one day a subhilt she had made. It is (was?) owned by a retired officer of Asian descent - unfortunately I can't remember his name. It was very impressive.

Louis Chow?

Last thing I heard was that Hirayama's folders are going for $3,000-$4,000. (But try finding one for sale :( )

Hirayama folders are surely a thing of beauty. I think I saw an article where Julie Warenski has started making her own knives. Those would be pretty special :)

There’s more female bladesmiths than I thought , and evidently more on the way.
There was a female student from Alaska attending Steve Dunn’s Damascus class at the ABS school a few weeks ago. I had the opportunity to examine her Damascus hunter forging and both the blade and Damascus were outstanding . I meant to get her name but didn’t.
