Im sure the knife community is predominantly male, but there must be a few girls out there, do they exist or are knife loving girls right up there with big foot.

Y'all might get more responses if you addressed them properly as Ladies.

Where and when I come from, your terminology borders on rude.

i didnt mean to offend any one, i dont realy know what i was thinking when i titled it and used that terminology, i was just curious.

My daughter is 10, I bought her a Kershaw rainbow chive for her 10th bday. She loves knives. She won't post here cause I won't let her. But I do let her handle knives, as mush as she wants. She can flip a mean bali or whittle a good marshmallow stick.

My girlfriend carries a Pink Kershaw Leek. She is new to knives, but everything I show her makes her more and more intrigued.

I really don't think sex is an issue, both my girls think its silly to sit around and talk about them though. I think thats rather odd, I'd figure they would be the ones that would enjoy talking about stuff.

I think I know of about 6 regular posters who are quite knowlegeable and ladies. I am sure there are others.

I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a "lady", but "Female" has always sounded to me like what you say when referring to the sex of an animal.:D

Women taking offence at beign called female?.
Would any man hear take offence to being called male?.
Whats that all about unless they have some gender issues how could it cause offence?.
I always wondered how many women read this forum virtually none id assume.Ones posted so far but i doubt there will be more than 10 or 15 unless they have specific links to the knife buisness.
Any women ive met has zero intrest in knives except kitchen ones and even then know very little about them unless they have some cooking skills.
How many members are there on this forum?.Id doubt females make up more than a few percent of members hear at most.
If im wrong all the females on this forum can show me that by posting.

I wouldn't call it political correctness. Ladies and gentlemen are polite terms, men and women are neutral. Males and females are biological, not necessarily human, so they can take on a tinge of the pejorative when referring to people.

Wow. One woman posted here and made a joke of the terminology, for sure she didn't take offense.

Why would any of the women here care enough about your opinion to prove anything to you by posting?

Of course this is an overwhelmingly male environment. There are interlocking demographics that might explain that.

Why are people listed on forms of all kinds, applications, records, drivers licenses, etc. as MALE or FEMALE ?

Why are deceased people referred to as MALE or FEMALE by law enforcement, medical examiners, coroners, etc. ?

It seems to me to be somewhat dehumanizing.

But practical and emotionally necessary at times.

Ha. I can only imagine the drama if he'd made a post innocently asking how many "knife girls" are regulars here...
