Fenix flashlight - AA or CR123 preferred???

I have no complaint about the performance of 123's or their package - but just compare the cost of 100 in storage 10 years to 100 AA's, or the use of 10 years of Nimh's or their potention replacements, Lithium-ion. Recharging AA's is dirt cheap.

Excusing even Walmart's best price, last I checked $8.53 a pair, buying bulk at say, $1.25 each, you could buy a nice light or blade and be well tired of it before using up half of your batts in storage.

Having a few 123's in a BOB or kit stashed is great, but lot's of us can't tie up $125 just to sit around. I'd rather put that toward a Buck Mayo TNT or BM710.

So for the cash flow conscious, or who see their lifestyle changing in five years with a growing family, I recommend getting hardware while you can and not escalating your equipment overhead - especially when no loss in performance or prestige is involved.

OK - so anyone know of a national retailer (or one in Coastal NC, where I live) that sells Fenix? Or do they all sell online? I'd like to see some in person. Still leaning towards AA, but not totally sold on that yet -----

I was like you, I searched over hill and dale around here, Nothing. I did the Ebay thing and just pulled the trigger and kept my fingers crossed that all the hype was true. I hate being a sucker for hyped advertising. That being said, I cant tell you how pleased I am with this 2XAA light. Think sleaker, smaller and lighter mini mag light on Blown Fuel. Look into this light in turbo mode and you will regret it.

Fenix P1D CE, Surefire L4 and Surefire E2D. All use CR123A batteries; last for hours and I am very glad they don't use AA. My pockets would be weighed down with extra batteries. 3V vs 1.5V says it all.
