I was recently given 2 gallons of Fenso 150 quenching oil. From the data I could find, it's a fast quench oil slightly slower than a Parks #50. The steels I'm currently using are 01, 1095, and hopefully some 1084 and 5160 in the near future.
Has anyone here used this oil before?
Is it suitable for water-quenching steels (1095, W2)?
Does anyone know the best pre-heat temp to use it at? (Data sheets I have give a range of 50-90 C)
I'm hoping to use this oil to quench clay-coated blades when my forge is finished and need to know what steels it's best for. I can e-mail the data sheets I have in a .pdf format if anyone is interested in seeing the charts.
Thanks a lot,
Nathan
