Ferhman blade steel, better than Infi??

LOL Hey Feather good to see you again buddy! :D

Truth is, I want a Fehrman FS and a few Busses just as bad. I keep telling myself that the Busse's will ALL be users.

"Don't even think about accumulating a piece of INFI and not using the bejabbers out of it!" I says. Funny thing is, the more I drool at bad mojo the more this little pink curly tail keeps poking me in the a$$.

um... so what's this SOUL-1?

Why so you guys could show it to me then shank me with it??!?

i know, I wish I coulda gone :grumpy:

Hey when are you boys gonna come to my neck of the woods?

At some point, it all comes down to personal preference. Even within the Busse line, there are some blades you like, and some that you don't. Some people decide they want a super-optimized slicer, others want INFI for "non knife-like tasks". So the "best knife debate" boils down to

1) Did you have it when you needed it?
2) Did it do what you needed it to do?
3) Could it do it again?

in the real world. I think INFI's a d*mn strong contender in #3. Like Jerry says, if someone comes up with something better, they'll be at Blade hacking apart a BM (unless they can sell it for $19.95, in which case you'll see it on late-night TV  ). Of course, before doing that, they may need to come up with some tougher tests! :D

CPM 3V is incredible stuff. One of the best knives I own is a Lightfoot in that steel. As Jerry said, some steels will outperform Infi in some respects. L6 Bainite is incredible stuff too. One of my most anticipated acquisitions is a Howard Clark sword in L6.
But have you ever gotten 3V wet for a while? Infi will corrode, but it cleans up amazingly well. And 3V? Well...
I'd love to try Fehrman knives. If it even comes close to Busse, it'll be a helluva knife. Still, for all around performance in hard use, especially chopping, I count on my Busses.
