Ferric Chloride on DLC?

Have any of you tried acid etching over a DLC coating. Ive been using ferric chloride for acid etching blades and was thinking of doing a pattern over a blade that is DLC coated S30V. Just wondering if the FC will be strong enough to penetrate through the coating and if there will be any contrast with the area that will have the resist applied.

It shouldn't affect DLC, seeing as it's billed as Diamond-Like Coating, but the reality may differ. I doubt normal concentration FeCl would affect S30V much, either.

well this is an S30V blade and the FC worked pretty good. I guess ill just give it a whirl anyways and see what happens

Huh, go figure. Yeah, if you're willing to risk the blade in the etch, if it doesn't etch, no loss.
