I used to purchase Ferric Chloride from Radio Shack, but since they've discontinued it, does anyone know where I can get some?

Or if you can recommend an alternative, I'm open to suggestions.

P.S. It's for etching a hamon on 1095.

Thanks!

According to Radio Shack's website, there is a Fruitvale Station location that has it in stock. I used the zip code 94601 just to try to get close. Good luck!

I just got a pint from RS three days ago. The store I got it from only orders 1 pint at a time and sells it as soon as they get it in. Try FRY electronics supply also.

I still buy from RS. Every time I do, I buy them out so they have to reorder :D

You can use FC powder (anhydrous). You can get 5 lbs of it on eBay right now for around $50 then just mix it yourself....

And if you usually make a mess with cocoa then be wary... acid powder in the eyes would be "spicy"

Thanks for all the replies!

I actually couldn't wait ... I had to see what the temper line looked like, so I used distilled white vinegar. Left it in there for the afternoon, came back and it actually looks pretty decent. :)

P.S. Vinegar also works well for removing scale! :D

Last time I looked, Sheffield Knifemakers Supply carried it
