Ferro Frustration

We all started with crappy e-Bay or gas station knives, and after breaking several of those we decided to spend more on a knife and then we were amazed by something decent. So, that's a lesson on how crappy knives can be :D

My reccomendation:
Mora, it costs like 8-12€ based on a model and they're well proven performers.
For serious bushcraft Mora Garberg is going to be hard to beat, it costs more than standard cheap Mora, but you get even more than what you pay for. You have stainless or carbon option.

Cold Steel Drop Forged series are affordable and they come in 52100 steel which has really good reputation for a good reason. I had one myself and it was my favourite EDC knife until it ended up at the bottom of muddy river after I used it to save my dog from drowning tangled in some kind of web/net... Also Cold Steel doesn't have the best sheaths so be aware of that.

Buck is affordable if you are in the US and has a good reputation here.

If you want top notch warranty then there's ESEE, but that will cost bit more.
 
If you’re looking for a quality fixed blade that doesn’t break the bank and has you covered with good warranty, check out ESEE or Becker. Those have solid reps for being reliable knives. Just pick what blade length and style you prefer.

Mind you, they’re not cheap, but not as expensive as Busses or CPKs either. Once you get one, as long as you take care of it, it should take care of you for a lifetime.
 
Stay away from gas station knives from now on bro, primarily from a safety standpoint. The cheapest acceptable knives are Moras and Opinels.
 
Buy an Esee 4, all around good size for edc. There is all kinds of extras that can be had. I believe there'll be an S35VN coming soon. The price is great on the 1095 version and it's gotta a forever no matter who's at fault warranty.
 
Welcome to the forum! That sucks about your knife, but at least it didnt break when you really needed it. I would look into Mora knives if you want cheap, and Buck knives if youre willing to spend a little more. There are all kinds of good deals on the exchange here too if youre willing to prowl the exchange and jump on a deal 30 seconds after it gets posted lol
 
Get something like Mora Kansbol and you are set.. and won’t cost much more than paki knife. You can propably find kydex for it if you want to pimp it later. It has 90 degree spine for throwing sparks.
