This knife really caught my eye today whilst browsing online.

I know nothing about Ferrum Forge or Gavko. And I have no idea why it's referred to as a "spinner". But I'm still interested.

Anyone know about the knife or the company? I'd like to learn about it before I buy,

Ferrum forge has been around awhile. They got their start as a materials provider if I remember and had a hand in the creation of some alloy they use. I may not have that 100%. Gavko is from Russia I believe. I don't know his real name but he got his start as a youtube reviewer for outdoor equipment but mostly focused on knives. He started designing then making knives a few years back. I don't know if he has any hand in making these knives. I think he only designed them and ferrum forge makes them. Ferrums work IMHO has got a lot more refined in recent years. More precise where once they had a more old world garage built feel.

Interesting. I'll have to do some additional Googling on the subject.

I was all set to buy a new ZT 0055 and another Yojimbo2. Then I see this sexy little Ferrum online. Now I'm tempted by the fruit of another.

I thought gavko was Israeli, off to Google this knife.

His last name is Gavak, that is how he got the name Gavko. First name Michal. I think he is Slovakian. Ferrum Forge is definitely my favorite knives for EDC!! I try to use my other blades, but the rest rarely get pocket time. As for the Spinner, I will tell you the action, lockup, and all around solidness will be great. It has a 20CV blade and is heat treated very well, for all around performance!! Adjustable detent, which if you have never had one, does feels a bit different to other knives, but it works great.

How does the "spinner" name fit in? I saw this knife (and a few variants) online at KC.

Not sure, I know Gavko had made a model called the spinner a while back, and still makes them. This is the 3rd Gavko/FFKW collaboration. They just go with the name of the model the collab. on. Not sure why Mike named the knife the spinner.

You can't go wrong with any Ferrum Forge product. Chris and Elliot are top notch craftsman at the top of their game and make an amazing knife. I have several of their pieces. The most recent being a Maker's Choice Spinner. The Williamsons and Gavko knocked itmout the park. I really have no complaints with the knife and its definitely worth picking up

Awesome pics. They really make a handsome knife.

I noticed that BHQ has just the flipper variants and KC has the non-flipper versions. I much prefer the non-flippers. I'm currently deciding between which non-flipper I like best.

He named it after a "spinner" shark... he likes to name his models after sharks... like the Mako for example (another very well known model of his)

I own one of his full custom spinners, and it's one of my favorites..

AFAIK, the "Spinner" is just the name they chose for the blade.

Wish I would have never sold my Ferko, great knife! I have quite a few FFKW blades, and have sold quite a few. I regret every one I sold and would love to have them back. Live and learn I guess. I never regretted keeping one though!
