Left the city late Friday, intent on challenging the PSK contest and using my kit. Th weather was brutal, we had 90 - 100km / h winds in our area, and cold rain. This presented several challanges on the mine road/forest area i was in, namely windowmakers falling. Also ran into bears, so i bailed out on the PSK challenge and headed for a shelterd lookout to hunker down and fire up the MSR Reactor stove to heat chili and hot drinks.

Spent the next day and part of Sunday back up in the woods, chopping saplings for rustic furniture building. Made several pots of spruce tea too during the day.

took pics from the snowline of the peaks past Squamish BC.

old mine road to ASHLU mine, halfway up this pic it gets a lot worse..... about 35 degree slope, rutted, loose wet gravel/rocks. I took the truck up in reverse and zigzagged my way up:

Great pic's! Sounds like you were sucessful in your survival test - you did the smart thing and survived.

You bringing moutnaineering gear as well? Or are you not going up that high? Love the first pic:thumbup:

Those are some great pics. I can't wait for my annual trip up to your neck of the woods for some ice climbing. If I survive the Grand Canyon, Lillooet, here I come! Thanks for the pics.

nope, i bailed out of the PSK challenge (for this weekend anyways). To high of winds, too many widomakers falling, and bears in the immediate area.

next weekend i;m puilling out the PSK and trying again.

FLIPE8 - I went to the snow line and snapped pics form there. Some i used a zoom on, as there was nO way i was going up under some of those snowpack.

black bears. Although it was really too dark to tell.....and some of the brown bears around here are actually quite dark....

they are overpopulated here, considered a pest, and there is simply not enough natural food for them. There are more bears within a KM of the urban edge than there are in the rest of the province.

Those mountain pics are stunning bro !!!

I'm coming over at the weekend, I can't wait now !!!!!
