Few questions on 20 inch CAK

Now I really want to see what those look like!

Some of the guys here have them, maybe they will ring in. :D

Believe me the 20" is a beast, well over 4 pounds and 7/16" thick, that's what mine is anyway :D

Nah, Whats wrong is you posting pics like that.
They were crying cuz they all simultaneously filled their pampers. :D

Oh, OK I get it. LOL :D

So Sher and Kumar aren't with HI anymore, man it has been awhile.

All but 1 of mine are Bura and Sher, mostly Sher with a few Bura and 1 Kumar (25" Kobra), that's out of 14 total.

Here is my 30" Kobra in hand. (It's around 2 lbs. 10 oz.) It was made by Sher (Kumar's older brother.)

To understand more about the rings... Are there some links you can point me to regarding their purpose and use. I'm leery of them as of now, but I also hear they're purposeful and worthwhile. Thoughts speculations?

Just joshin' with ya ,Ankerson. Your pics are only slightly scarier than Cpl. Punishments and his make babies cry when he posts them too. Babies crying makes the Cpl. want to punch chuck norris because chuck wants to punch the crying babies. The Cpl. likes babies. He was a baby once, a big hairy baby with a khukuri. :D

The Khukuri Faq said:
Handle rings - traditionally-made khukuris usually have a number of rings carved in the centre of the handle
"Kami Sherpa thinks the rings and little ridge once had a definite meaning of some kind -- almost certainly to do with religion -- but he says today nobody really knows what the meaning is or was. He points out that the configuration is fairly rigid. A pair of rings down maybe 1/4 of the handle length from the bolster -- small space and another pair of rings -- then the ridge with a single ring in it -- a final ring just below the ridge. Personally, I find it very interesting that almost all good kamis use the same configuration but none of them know why they put it on the handle or what it might mean". -Bill Martino
The rings have a definite purpose, developed over eons. I find them quite helpful in controlling my khukuri and keeping it in my hand. YMMV.

Keep it up and I'll start posting pic with the kukris and ME in them, and really scare the babies! :p

Sher came back. Unless he's left a second time? I hope not.

Just from a user's perspective, I'd say the cut in rings help with grip a little, while the large raised ring mainly comes into play if you're stabbing. The big ring definitely helps keep your hand from sliding up the blade, with the smaller khukuris. On the large ones with a hand-and-a-half grip, it ends up between your hands, though.
