I searched the FAQ/information consoildation links but am still not finding the information I need. What are the differences between the FFBM and the FFFBM? Is there blade thickness differences, or grip differences? Any information and photos showing differences would be appreciated, thank you.

They are the same knife. FFBM=FFFBM. Some people use two Fs, some use three. For your information:

FFBM: Fat Fusion Battle Mistress

FFFBM: Fat Flat Fusion Battle Mistress

I think more people call them FFBMs so in your searches you might want to use FFBM instead of FFFBM.

Is there a FFFBM? Funky Fat Fusion Battle Mistress?

I've only heard of the FFBM, which to my knowledge is the Fat Fusion Battle Mistress.

Edited to add: First Time I've heard of "Flat," though I see it in usage via a Google search. The FFBM doesn't have a flat grind though.

I am confused by the fact that you say there is no difference between FFBM and FFFBM designation. When searching the for sale section, one seller in particular, lists seperate knives as FFBM and FFFBM. To me this would mean that there is a difference. I am really confused. What is the blade width on Battle Mistresses? Thank you.

I think that the FBMLEs were 0.32" thick, that listing on Busse Collector is misleading.

Thank you for the quick reply! Do you know if it is possible to send a knife back to the factory, and have the grips replaced with magum style grips?

I guess I used the incorrect word. Thank you for providing the thickness information and link.

I don't think the FFBMs were a Shop offering. Seems like those came via the BCS. I know I got mine from Skunk.

When were full flat versions offered? Did those come through the BCS too?

safetyman, according to bussecollector.com (and my own vague memory), you've got those thickness stats reversed.

That site doesn't mention a full flat (grind) version, but hey, anything's possible with knives sold at shows/Ganzaaas.

Yes...the FFBM has a sabre grind and the FFFBM is flat. That's the primary difference. The thickness varies from knife to knife regardless of whether it's flat or sabre.

Doesn't the Flat part have to do with the absence of ridges running length wise on the bevel?

Depends. I like the sabre grind. Puts a bit more weight on the spine. The Heavy Heart (Steel Hearts) were similar to the FFBMs in that they had the sabre grind.

As for the grip/scale exchange, call the shop and see. They might very well do it, especially for a combat grade. I've never heard of grips swapped on an LE, but you never know....

hogcult.com also lists the FFBM at .32 and the FBM LE at .312.

I can get mine out and measure if it's a big deal, but there's not a whole lotta difference between .312 and .320. I don't think there was a question about the LE anyway (though it is a full flat grind).

The knives do have some variation from knife to knife. Somewhere, I have a handwritten list with that info, and I've never put it into an Excel file. Maybe I can just dig it out. I don't think mine were spot-on with the advertised measurements, though they didn't vary by much.

Who is this Skunk you speak of? Does he have a website or does he sell on this forum?
