Sooooo.... I saw an sale for a "heavy fat fbm" at 489$ and thought "huh..."

Then I looked at the specs and saw a saber ground blade that was ".320" thick, and I clicked buy without really thinking about it. The ideal for me regarding the fbm is to have standard scales (to move the weight forward) and a saber ground blade at full 5/16-3/8" thickness (to move the weight forward), preferably a lowish saber (to move the weight forward)..... I really want to move the weight forward.....

sooooooooo.... what the heck did I just buy? I've been away for a while because of some pretty terrible social drama/taxes/new job stuff..... What were these original priced at? How is the balance compared to the Lefbm's? did they come with standard or mag handles?

Sounds like you just got yoself a Fatty Mistress. They sprung up at the store not too long ago. I hope they are more on the way. They were priced lower than the CGFBM.

If you want forward weight... you're gonna love it!!!

This baby weighs in at just over 2 lbs.

Do a search... plenty of pics... stripped, olished up a bit... sage FFBM... good stuff! The FFBM blk/blk standards were $367, w/ mags was $402, and sage was $422.

From Ken Lunde's website:

I've got one waiting for me in Denver ... seven more days !

422 $US from the BCS.

It is heavier than the fbm LE, but looks to be made of the same stock.
The reg scaled version is even more forward heavy than the Mags. You will love it!

You bought the heaviest Mistress yet!
Below are some of the prices and specs from earlier threads and the BCS. These sold very quickly.

Fusion Battle Mistress - Black crinkle, black standard micarta. $367.00
Fusion Battle Mistress - Black crinkle, black magnum micarta. $402.00
Fusion Battle Mistress - Desert sage crinkle, desert sage camo G-10. $422.00

The balance point on my sage FFBM (standard g10 scales) is about 1 inch in front of the handle scales, its seems to be slightly forward of my CGFBM with magnum micarta scales but not much. Hope this helps

crazy... Then this does indeed look to be one of my dream blades. If it maintains its 5/16" thickness from pommel to the beginning of the tip main grind bevel, it will probably make up for not being 3/8" thick.... it does look like the one I got is the standard scales model. eeeeeexsooolent......

thank you for the information :D

I'll make sure to post some pics... lol... I should probaly get pics up of my poor scrap yard dog father... sledge hammers are dumb.

Posting this from my blackberry at my camp site... I've used my FFBM lots this weekend so far. Chopped up some dead-fall and split lots of wood. Definitely thankful for the added heft!!! The black crinkle isn't going to last long...already running off where the primary grind meets the spine. All my work so far and the edge is no worse for wear! The wire edge is finally gone for good. I'll post pics when I get home Tuesday night. Adios!

Almost worn the crinkle off my own Black Fatty -- had some deadfalls to remove on the back 40 (an exaggeration, of course!). This is an astoundingly good cutter...the hand does get tired, though, and would probably prefer a respirene handle (as on the Dog Father).

Suppose I'll eventually have to copy Tyrkon (and others) and turn my Black Fatty into a user-Satin or user-DC Fatty!

Hope you picked up the Sage Fatty! I love mine...haven't been able to talk myself into chopping with it yet. It's a real beauty.

resiprene has its draw backs

obviously this is retarded, but after 11 hours of heavy hard work consisting of digging trenches and loading concrete my sense of right and wrong ways to do things wasn't working properly. I was using it to try to cut a tree root in a fence post hole, but it ended up that the tree root was about 10" around and larger then the fence post hole, plus the depth was longer then the knife could handle while maintaining easy retreival. there were waaay better ways of doing it, but oh well.

Yikes!

I know what you mean. I set my DF next to my fire pit one night for pictures. Too close. (DUH!) Not long either. When I picked it back up it was melted a little on the handle butt. I was able to mold it back into shape. No ill effects performance wise. And a lesson learned for me.

But the Res-C sure feels good on the hands when choppin'. ;)

BTW: Great pics. Thanks for sharing. I will avoid extreme batoning w/ Res-C. :)

Improper choice of baton; forgot the dead blow hammer at home:

My wife uses "her" BATAC with standard slabs to nip off some kindling for the fire:

Lastly, the Fat with it's little bro, the BATAC:

That sap darkens up the micarta real nice. :D

You bought the beast of all Busses. Since I knew I'd be doing some serious chopping and splitting with mine, I stripped the paint off it.

A new FFFBM is popping up at BCS now...a Leprechaun Fattie.

That's lovely green linen handles -- standard or magnum.

LVC- Did it arrive yet? I'm anxious to hear what you think about it. It's become (surprisingly) one of my favorite blades! Don'tcha love it when one you don't expect to be that awesome turns out so great?!

I feel kind of dumb, I should have ordered my moab with a saber grind like these. hopefully the extra 1/16" thickness and the length will help make up for it :(

in fact... I should probably call and see wether they've ground the bevel yet... and then how much extra it would be for a high saber ground...

The seller said he'd send it out tuesday, so I'm expecting it somewhere between tommorrow and next tuesday, depending on the type of mail service he chose.

It will depend on how the balance is on wether I like it or not, but since its actually thicker then the lefbm, and has standard slabs I'm sure I'll love it. I still feel that the hogfsh with standard slabs was the strongest feeling knife in my hand that I've ever experienced, and I'm sure this will be the same.
