FFG = boring

For me it's not boring because I enjoy and appreciate simplicity and smoothness as an artistic design. I'm not all FFG or all any other grind. It just has to look good as well as perform. It's good that you have a preference and a dislike. That in itself makes things less boring. For me I think scandi grinds are boring. TETO I guess.

Is it just me or are fully flat ground(FFG) blades boring? I don't need a crazy asymmetrical nightmare grind, but I do like a nice grind line, a little bit of the full stock and a swedge.

Im glad to see someone else feels the way that I do, Im not saying that flat blades are boring, but they just don't have character..don't get me wrong,I love my spyderco stretch. I would rate it at the top of my collection in all catagories. but the knife that I carry needs to feel good in my pocket. kind of needs to match my mood. some days I need to switch away from my modern tactical types and return to my trad. stag handle folders, they all perform well enough for one day carries. so performance is not an issue. it may sound crazy to some, but it just needs to provide the right feeling..kind of like the feeling I get from putting on my old green LL been wool mackinaw or an old pair of comfortable work boots. when I look at the black upswept blade on a sog tac auto, or the crazy tiger striped blade on my ZT301, the flat blade of the stretch looks like a sharpened piece of flat stock...
just my opinion, but for me, it needs to feel right and have some charcter

Between the Police G10 FFG and the BM Dejavoo 740, I find the thicker stock and near to middle tip of the bm740 pleasing to look at and cuts like laser. The Police FFG starts with a thinner stock and with the grind starts by cutting into the thickness of the blade, it just looks too flimsy and anaroxic. The small saber flat gring of the bm740 leaves more meat to the top of the blade.

i have many many knives with all kinds of grinds. the grind doe'st dictate my perference in purchasing however for function a ffg will certainly make tedious chores a lot easier. i certainly do'nt carry the same cutlery to go on a deer hunt as going rabbit hunting. while slicing the ffg is a effienciency maninac however some thin ner blades require more care in use, heavier tasks just require more robust profiles. of course this doe'st apply to busses ,ferhmans , bark rivers etc.which are heavier stock with the appleseed grind .
