Tried to search for news on this, but only found rumors from a year ago.

What does the timeline look like for the Golden, CO FRN Native 4? I understand it will be FFG, are there any other notable features?

When we talked about it a while back I suggested S90V for the steel and sal said it might be possible so hopefully that went through, it would be a amazing user blade.

Based on its non-appearance in the 2010 catalog, I'd guess no earlier than September. That's not to say it will ever see the light of day. The CF version was discontinued, which makes me think it sold poorly. That might make them think twice about going ahead with the FRN version.

To make thinks clear, all the above is pure speculation on my part and nothing more.

Paul,
I think that CF Native4 and FRN Native4 are two very different knives. CF Native4 is upscale model with street price around $160, FRN Native4 will be work knife with street about half of CF or less.
I remember Sal mentioned that Spyderco already is making a new mold.
I would take FRN Native4 (made like 2009 Forum knife) over current production any day, any time, even if FRN Native4 would have 154CM blade instead of S30V. I cannot imagine that FFG Native would have worse sale than current production.

The carbon fiber Native4 ws a test of the pattern, which seems to be fine.

The USA mde Native4 will no doubt be offered in variations; steels, grinds, clips handle materials, etc........................whtever your little heart desires.

maybe CPM S90V, textured CF, wire clip, and a FFG. that would be cool.

I have a Native III, Native IV with S30V steel, and a carbon fiber native 4.

Out of those 3 knives, my favorite one is the least expensive one, the Native III.

I love the way the thicker FRN fills the hand and I am very happy with the VG-10 blade, though S30V or S90V would also be great.

Two of the Natives have jimping on top but not the bottom. The CF Native has it on the bottom only.
I would like to see a Native offered with jimping top and bottom, and another vote for me on the wire clip. It is my favorite clip style for folders that weight less than 5 ounces.

As long as I am dreaming, how about a wave option? I REALLY want to see a Millie offered with a wave as well, maybe one like the p'kal that is removable.

Well then... I'll take one in dark blue G-10, with a Centofante 3/4 style clip (I hate wire clips) and a full flat ground blade in, if it has to be US made, D2 or S90V.

Or a clipless, bolstered version (kinda like the Kiwi) with stag scales.

Now I've gone and gotten myself all excited.

It may be too late but I really want the deep carry wire clip like the Sage vs the one on the Native III.

I''ll take mine FFG CPM154-CM, textured CF handle scales, jimping top and bottom, and the deep carry wire clip.
