I have a friend going to the Philipines for 3 weeks. How much money would I need to give him to bring me a cheap but decent knife back? Also are there any laws against him bringing it back with him?

$15 should be plenty for even the best batangas bali. But I'd advise against trying to bring it back with him. It's likely he'll have it taken by customs. I had a friend that was bringing one back for me last week and got it confiscated. See if he can mail it instead.

Well, $15 should get you a decent bali at least. I think the average price is $15, so you might want to give him a couple more bucks just in case. Like said, watch out for customs.

If he doesn't plan to go to batangas then give him a little more money. He'll then be able to get balis from the mall, specifically the store named "Hahn-Manila", they are on SM malls.

Maybe you can tell him to call me when he gets here if he needs any help getting some balis.
