Fiberglass insulation killed my knife

I have seen the home center stores selling knives for cutting insulation in the same area as the utility knives. Funny enough, one of them looks like a dagger, which is unlawful to carry in my State.

Those are the so-called 'duct knives' - I think they're meant for cutting/sectioning fiberglass-lined ducting for cooling system installations. I have an older, wooden-handled version of one of those, and also scratched my head at seeing them at the stores. At the time, as a double-edged 'dirk' style blade sharpened on both edges, they would've also been illegal if carried in public (by Texas law, where I was at the time). I did notice, at some later time, they no longer carried them and I wondered if the legal aspects played into a decision to remove them from inventory.

Newer ones these days look more modern/tactical and 'weapon-like' than the one I bought, which basically looked like a reground walnut-handled kitchen knife. I scratch my head even more, looking at the newer ones.
