So, guys...

If one wanted to carry a Fiddleback as a neck knife, what would you suggest? Has anyone done this before? What would you recommend? Has one ever been made specifically for neck carry?

If you found the proper Fiddleback for neck carry, who would you go to for a kydex neck carry rig? Rick, would you do something like this?

Thanks in advance!!!

I have a neck sheath for my Esquire that is a match to this one but I don't carry it as a neck knife very often.
Though it does work quite well.

Wear that osage fighter I sold you. Who cares what people think.

No, I think a Bushboot or a hiking buddy in 1/8" stock or thinner with a tapered tang would work well. I haven't had the chance to handle the Esquire, but from the looks of it I think it would work just fine.

I remember at a Blade show about 5 or 6 years ago Andy had some partially skeletonized 3FKs on the table in kydex neck sheaths. I also remember thinking that was an awesome size for a neck knife, but that I would really like some very thin scales on a CPM154 or CPM S35VN one.

I appreciate your thoughts, but I'd hate to scratch the blade on that Fighter with kydex! If I was a taller guy, I'd just carry a Comp Cutter, but if I started running, the handle might start swinging and hit me where it hurts! :)

I was thinking a HB would be a good one, especially one with a thinner blade!

Roemer1, anyway we could see a pic of your neck sheath??? That sounds cool!

Thanks for the input!

WOW!!!!! That would be a cool old Fiddleback to run across!!!

Will, the old school 2-Finger Kardas are the perfect neck knife. I actually carried one for a while until I decided to trade them. Bud (bonafide) actually makes a sweet sheath for them which is lined with pig skin and has a magnet to secure the knife.

That sounds pretty cool!

I purchase an EDKarda from Andy which he had set up in a kydex neck sheath.

The knife, second from top, has thinner scales an no liners. Weight is just about right for neck carry.

Pretty crazy, I asked Ken about this 2 weeks ago (scale-less 3FK); it is being looked into (no gaurentees) ;)

Great minds think alike :D

I'm testing a thinner new style 1/8 scandi 3FK out now; need some suitable kydex for a neck rig but the new 3FK is IMO a great contender for a necker as well.

Old skool 2 or 3 finger Karda - inverted in a Kydex sheath would be the easiest.
Andy use to offer them with Fletcher made kydex sheaths. See below; my daughters 3FK.
Of course, the new model, "Minnow" would carry pretty easily too.

I did some Arrowhead sheaths with magnets a while back for Runts & old skool 2FKardas .. but I havent made one is some time.

VERY Cool!!! VERY Cool!!! How "tight" does the leather and magnet hold the knife? Would it hold a 3FK or HB?

Thanks for the pics!!!

I think of a neck knife as something I would wear under my shirt. That being said I think the minnow would be my choice
If I wore one like Cody lundin I would consider any 3-4" fiddleback

I love neck carry! I use neck carry for general camping. If I'm just hanging out at the campsite all weekend, not in the woods hunting or doing a lot of deep woods walking I'll neck carry. It's extremely convenient. Unfortunately I don't have any Fiddlebacks set up this way ...YET.

I carry a Fletcher Pro 6-5 currently as my main neck carry. I have an Exotac FireRod attached. I will almost always choose leather over kydex for a sheath BUT for neck carry I prefer kydex and bottom extraction. I've seen a few makers with the magnetic leather sheaths and I'm curious to try one. I love the arrow heads Bud. Those look great! I have a couple universal leather neck sheaths that extract from the top but I much prefer kydex bottom extraction.

The convenience is fantastic. The knife is always at my finger tips when needed for quick, general use, kitchen work or even getting the fire started since I have a FireRod attached. I don't any issues with the knife swaying or getting in the way. I keep my lanyards just long enough to fit loosely over my head. They pretty much hang straight down and stay put at that length and really don't get in the way of general duties. If I'm swinging an axe or similar task I'll remove it.

Try the SS Minnow. Its a good neck knife size. We are going to do a skeletonized sucrets tin sized knife as a production knife. Ken is working on the design this time.
