When Dylan asked me to become my apprentice and teach him to make knives I never even imagined what has actually happened. Firstly that Dylan could make it as a full time knifemaker also was astounding to me. I was still so fresh at it that it was amazing to me that it was working even once. But he did make it, and he is at knifemaker and has always been a driving force for my own knives.

Since then we have had the pleasure of working with a group of craftsmen that I am proud to be associated with. I was thinking the idea that the here is a little group of us yesterday, and started to list them in my head. It is quite a list and I felt proud to put my name in the group. If you haven't checked out each of these makers work then I hope you do so soon.

The list goes like this:

Fletcher Knives
Dogwood Custom Works
AK Knives
Valkyrie Knives
Point 40 knives
WAS Knives
Fiddleback Forge Knives

Now that's what I call an awesome resume! Thanks for making our community that much stronger!

Bill

Andy:

That's quite a legacy you've got going. Just think what the future can bring.

Thanks for all that you do !

Peter

Andy, just imagine all of the hobbyists/amateurs you have inspired. Not to mention the craftsmen in the sheath and accessories field. I think you're list could easily be quadrupled!

The principles of your business mission (and success) have led me to seek out similar cottage manufacturers for all my hobbies and caused me to rethink the way I spend my "choice" money. Long live the small makers of anything cool and may their spirit continue to infect us all.

Great job all around!

I had a chance to talk to Andy about this at blade this year and the Fiddle back family is starting to become a brand into its self. As I start working with an apprentice I appreciate how much work it is to mentor just one person it says a lot about someone that can influence so many makers.

Andy, I adore you and the way you run your business. The "fiddleback-family" is something you all can be proud of.
This fact and the outstanding quality of your knives are the reasons why I am proud owner of some of your knives!
I also have knives from Allen,Kyle and Jarrett and they deserve highest respect for their craftsmanship!!!

to have had so many great knife makers go through Andy's mentorship speaks volume to Andy's generosity with his time and knowledge. Shame Valkyrie and 40 Point aren't active, each of them seemed to have a very unique youthful sense of style (hopefully they're just taking a momentary break?)

What about @Bamboo ?? Wasn’t he getting into making knives?

Speaking of Ken, anyone know how he’s doing?

I thought Bamboo was Judy / 40 Point .. that was before my time though.

Nope!

Judy Yoon is 40 Point,

Bamboo is Ken. He made and sold a few knives, but he had a major surgery and then moved back up north to be with his folks.
