Why would Buddha weep???

So I did some research … here is the most predominant accounting ...

There is a story about two warriors associated with the weeping Buddha.
These highly skilled masked warriors faced each other during several battles, and were so evenly matched that neither could best the other. Following several such confrontations, the older warrior triumphed over the younger warrior, and he younger warrior was slain. When the older warrior took off his defeated opponent's mask, he realized that he had killed his long lost son. Seeing this, the older warrior was overcome with grief ... and crumpling to the ground, he began to weep.
It is believed that the weeping Buddha bears the grief and troubles of the world.
It is also said that he bestows peace and provides strength to those who rub his back.

Not an entry, as I won bonifide's sheath GAW, but thanks for contributing so much to the forum. I don't know about "the best of the best," but we'll keep you around. 😉
