Fiddleback Forge's Mid-Tech Line

They all look great, excellent review there sir ! That small one looks like a real handy rascal to have around too.

Myself I would prefer they had a lanyard hole, surprised that the larger ones didn't come with one.

edited to add, I see they do have lanyard holes on some of their models, and they sure do have a lot of models ! :)

Thanks Gary! I think the issue there was that his trademark bullseye lanyard hole that he does on the hand made models would be fairly difficult if not impossible to do in a midtech version, and any other lanyard hole would look odd on a knife with the Fiddleback logo on it. Honestly, I think I am among the few to actually use the lanyard hole on the Fiddlebacks, and I don't do it on all of them. So far the Camp is the only one I miss it on. Dropping back to a rear grip on the Camp Knife makes it a chopping machine.

I went to the lake, not intending to fish, carried my mid-tech Bushfinger in the amazing RLO kydex hybrid sheath. I ended up doing some striper fishing and it was the only blade around. That knife filleted and skinned the fillets with amazing grace! I am so blown away with this knife! What an amazing combination of skill in one blade, Andy Roy, Nathan the Machinist, and Rick Lowe.... This knife is quickly becoming my go to for most tasks! The more I use her, the more I strop the edge to maintain it, and the sharper she gets! I have never had an edge this sharp that will take as much use without maintenance! I can't wait to try the 3V!

I could totally see that. I haven't done any fishing since I got these, but I did fillet some steel head up in Michigan with my Woodsman which has a similar profile only longer and it worked really well. I think this Bushfinger is definitely going to be a great all arounder even when I go coastal where I don't like taking my O-1 knives.

They are all very nicely done, but yes the Hiking Buddy is my favorite, that model has been a favorite for edc and day hiking since it was released. I'm really glad to finally have a version in CPM S35VN

Does anyone know how long it will be until the mid-tech Camp Knife is available?

Vance said in the Fiddleback Forum that they are working on them this week trying to get them to the dealers, and that they will have some at Blade.

Looking at this pic that appeared in a thread recently posted in the Fiddleback forum, I would guess pretty soon.

I have had the camp knife out testing it the last little while, so I'll be posting a review of it in KR&T soon

When are these coming out to buy

The stock version of the mid-tech Camp was available at Blade, and is at dealers now. The custom shop versions that have been available of Fiddleback Fridays lately, with different handle materials and configurations have been really nice too.

A CPM-M4 kephart would be a great bushcraft knife! Count me in. I really like the Rick Lowe sheath. I wonder if there will be a firesteel holder attachment.

M4 on one of these models would be a dream to use.

UGH. That camp knife! I thought it was done with fixed blades for a while but maybe not...

Very much looking forward to a full review!
