Fiddleback Friday - 08/15/14

Lol sure did, going camping with the family and some friends in the jungle. Probably do some caving, fishing, and trapping down at a spring fed river a few hours away. Early morning with lots of hiking in the, extremely hot this year, jungle means this guy needs lots of rest lol. If I would have known it was going to be an early one though I would have definitely missed some sleep!

Congrats on that Karda. Jealous yet again!

Thanks...I'm jealous also, would love to go camping in the jungle...it must take a bit to get used to in that type of environment.

Wow, those cocobolo scales are amazing! And that dyed ash Hiking Buddy is just gorgeous!!

At the risk of being of being a greedy gnome, if nobody (unbelievably) wants that Bishop, then I will take it.

Ok so a few people asked last week to see photos of the EDCII Stainless Black Herringbone Burlap Orange Pinstripe Over Black so here you go

Thanks for posting Crazy. Spalting looks a lot different on stainless than it does on O1.

Just in case you missed it, Ken:

2014 0815 08 – Ladyfinger with Padouk over black g10 with white pinstripes, SFT Tang, convex on 1/8” spalted 01 steel - $290

Not sure who was asking or when, but that is a fine example of an EDC II. The SS is the deal maker for me personally. Very nice.

I'll take the ladyfinger, then. Ever since I handled one at Blade I've been tossing it around. I loved how quick and nimble it felt.

You got it Eric! Thank you. I agree, the Ladyfinger handles really easily.

How many Bishops does.one man need?

My math came up with 3, one for each hand and a backup.

I'll take this one.
2014 0815 03 – Bushboot with Natural canvas micarta (sandblasted) over black g10 with white pinstripes, SFT Tang, convex on 1/8” spalted 01 steel - $225

You got it Roemer! Thank you. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Anything Left?

I think just the Bishop.

At the risk of being of being a greedy gnome, if nobody (unbelievably) wants that Bishop, then I will take it.

Until now, no more Bishop. You got it Skystorm! Thank you.

I appreciate the reminder, rarely a bad idea they are.

Good eye. We do not do spalting on stainless, it is actually hammer textured.

If you have any other info on this Fiddleback Id be really grateful. The only info I have is that it is a Stainless Black Herringbone Burlap
Thanks Chuck

It has been awhile since I worked on that one, however, it is an EDC II in 5/32 (1/8" but 5/32 due to mill finish) CPM154 SFT with herringbone over black g10 with orange g10 pinstripe. Any other info you are looking for in particular?

Nope that everything I was looking for. Thanks a lot for the help

I hope you guys don't mind this question, it is no critique or anything like that. I'm still new to Fiddleback Forge knives and I'm just genuinely curious.

Why is the Bushboot in this batch priced 40$ lower than the ones from the batch of the week before and the most current one?

The only reason I can come up myself with is the handle material since non of the three have a tapered tang, but this one as well as the one in the latest batch have micarta scales so it puzzles me. Is there something else I'm overlooking perhaps?

Ah, that helps a lot, thanks Thurin

Now that I read through the first posts in that thread you linked I recall reading it before one of the first times I came to the Fiddleback section on Bladeforums, totally slipped my mind I guess.

You might like to know that you're the one that started this little infliction when you did that Bushboot giveaway by the way. I might have seen a few of the knives come by around the forums before that, but my mind hadn't consciously registered the name Fiddleback Forge until then.

After not wining it I just couldn't stop lusting for one, so by giving one away you helped selling at least one too (I am now waiting for that Eucalyptus Burl to arrive).

So thanks...I think...

Hahaha! Thurin is like the Typhoid Mary of Fiddlebackitis. Best keep away from Mistwalker's posts, too. And Comprehensivist. And....

Ah, screw it. We're all in this together.

You're welcome GB! :)

I'm glad the giveaway drew someone into the Fiddleback family. The more the merrier! Errr, wait, that just means it's harder for me to shark a knife...

Thanks Michael, I think... ;)
