Fiddleback Friday - 09/12/14

Thanks for all your help Ken!! Sorry about the confusion! Still trying to work out my newbe issues with this shark thing.

I also use a Mac and have experienced a similar delay with the thread hitting my screen. I've tried doing the hard refresh which is the Command + R keys with no luck. I've tried activating private browsing to keep the cache free. I even experimented having my broadband speed increased from 25 to 50 mbs and I still experienced at least a 5 min delay. I'm beginning to think it has something to do with using an Apple computer. It would be very helpful if any other Sharks using Mac's could offer insight on their experiences. Thanks in advance !

I haven't experienced any such issues on any of my macs while on a fiddleback friday thread. Command-R (refresh) does the trick for me. Knock on wood.

I would like to take the Hunter. Thanks
2014 0912 19 – Hunter with Black canvas bolsters over Kirinite, SFT Tang, convex on 3/16” spalted 01 steel - $390

I am using a mac. I just refresh by clicking on the refresh arrow loop thing in the top of browser. I am running high speed internet but it still gets super bogged down when so many people are trying to access the sight. Today it was all locked up frozen bog craziness (taking 30 seconds or more sometimes to refresh)- I can't believe I ended up the second post. Sometimes I get lucky and it refreshes quickly right when the post goes up. Other times it bogs down right when the post comes up and by the time I see it there are already 10 replies. I think folks have said this before, but I really think it has more to do with so many people refreshing constantly trying to access the site. .....Or it could be a microsoft conspiracy... Or google... they did try to take over blade forums once :)

On another note...
Good job Andy keeping the patch knife... That thing is absolutely gorgeous. I was having a really dilemma .... go for the scandi or the beautiful green patch knife .... Thank goodness I chose the tuxedo scandi! Good play dcaggie! I am sure glad you wanted the other one. I lost sleep the last few nights over this whole scandi's coming back. I was about to call the doc for some anxiety meds. Just when I think things are under control .. more "must haves" come along.

If still available, I would like:

2014 0912 21 – Blueback Camp Knife with Natural Canvas Bolsters over Black canvas micarta, SFT Tang, mosaic pin, convex on 3/16” spalted 01 steel - $495

Please

Ken, did I miss something? Or does this mean scandis are making a comeback?!

:)

RHBLLC,

It looks like you might be new here. Welcome to the Fiddleback Friday excitement. I just want to point out that it is best to wait for confirmation from Ken (bamboo) or Andy (Fiddleback) that you got the knife you want to buy before you send your payment. It looks good that you will get the Hunter, but sometimes there are misunderstandings further up the thread that they have to resolve. Normally you will know very quickly. Today is a little different than normal because the crew left early for a knife show out of town. Be patient while they are travelling and you will hear back from them soon.

Have a good weekend.

Phil

To close the loop for all of you Mac users; I do 95-100% of my sharking on a Mac. In the spirit of good will and paying it forward, I will add a "Mac sharking optimization tutorial" to the "Law of the Sharks" thread. No dark art, voodoo or black magic, just a few low level OSX optimization techniques. If you're slow on the draw, youre slow on the draw, but the forthcoming information might help trim some fat and potentially make browsing a bit faster, as it sounds like your broadband speeds are not to blame ;)

2014 0912 14 – ASP with Crimson micarta over natural with white pinstripes, Tapered Tang, convex on 1/8” spalted 01 steel - $330
I'll take it.

Thanks xxwjtxx, I will look for your "tutorial" on the Mac's. Love My Mac! Just not when I finally see the post 5 to 6 minutes after it was posted. I sat and waited over an hour for the post when I should have been going to work. As soon as it showed up I smashed it. It just showed up to late!! Then a full blown melt down ensued. That's where the frustration post came from. Thanks again!

Phil,
Thank you. i was not sure quite how it worked. I have been trying for a while to buy a Fiddleback. I appreciate the heads up. Hopefully it will work out.
Thanks
Richard

Ok, after a discussion with the group, and some size comparisons, if this knife is still available, I will take it. It will end up being my daughter's first Fiddleback :)

2014 0912 03 – Esquire with OD Camo over black with white pinstripes, SFT Tang, convex on 3/32” spalted 01 steel - $265
