There's a guy with Jack Daniels barrels for sale. Not sure how much. The thought crossed my mind that you could possibly make Jack Daniels scaled knives. I'm not sure if this would work, but thought you may know. Think it worth the time or effort? If so I can get you his number. (Just a thought)
 
Seasoned oak stave handles? Hmmm...Not sure if they would turn out so pretty. I work in the bourbon business here in Kentucky and though the used barrels look great with a poly coat while sitting at the end of your bar at home I don't know if they would show their personality as a knife handle.

Also, once the barrels have been used, the whiskey penetrates into the oak very deeply (in some cases pretty well the entire way through) drawing out all of the natural fatty acids and sugars from the wood. I think that might change how they would wear over time maybe. They could look really cool though, worth an attempt!

Andy I just saw the double mint hiking buddy with white and black stripes over on the 12-07-12 thread it's price is 265. The model number is 2012-1207-002. Since I already have small karda I would rather get the double mint if its available. Wish I had money for both! Let me know either way and I will PayPal you right away!!!

Never mind I now see all 12-07-12 knives are gone!!

That knife was available a week ago from the vendor who bought it from Andy. It likely is still there. The seller is a place "where a knife-makes a connection" to the end user. It was listed with a sheath. The knife only price is $284. Hope this helps you. I looked hard at this knife even after Andy no longer had it.

Not interested. The whiskey smell/permeation, and the fact it us Oak are the culprits. Oak has to be pretty special to make a pretty knife handle. I have a bunch of this kind of Oak, but it isn't common.

It is with no small amount of embarrassment that I ask this ? - but did anyone save the original post of the knives listed and their prices this week? I had forgotten that the price gets replaced with SOLD once a knife is claimed and I forgot to note the price of the Snubnose. I usually cut/paste the knife's description into the 'I'll take it' post - which preserves the price, but was mobile at the time and didn't do that this week.

I have asked Andy, but he is either hard at work in the shop making this week's knives or taking a much deserved break -- thanks in advance if anyone can assist.
