Oooh I see some nice ones! Great work! My collection needs some scandi, looks like there are a couple that would work. “Cross fingers” that some shark doesn’t swoop it up b4 me.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen persimmon scales before. Very cool.

Me neither, very unique looking. I had to investigate further.

Persimmon (Diospyros virginiana) is native to eastern North America and known for its small, soft fruits that are suited to a variety of culinary uses. As a lumber, persimmon is a hardwood used for a number of recreation and specialty items. It comes from the family Ebenaceae, the same family as ebony.

Have lots of persimmon trees on my family’s farm. They are normally a smaller tree grows in small groups/stands producing a orange colored small fruit ever fall. Deer love them also along with most other wildlife.

If you eat the fruit before it’s ripe your mouth will feel numb it’s so sour/tart. After it’s ripe normally first freeze it’s pretty tasty.

It looks like B/W Ebony to me in the picture above cool knife.

persimmon cookies and persimmon pudding are wonderful! We usually have both for the holidays.
