I'm hung up lately. All my knife purchases are weighed against my needs for a huge project I am working on...which grows increasingly expensive as I go along. So I will need a wooden handled one, or wrapped one first. But this is the exact configuration I want to test out and have for personal use in the field.

Definitely classic Fiddleback. My first two and three of my first four Fiddlebacks were black-bolstered natural canvas.

Beautiful! Except, that's not a "bolster," that's a half-and-half handle.

[Coming from the world of Traditional knives, in which a bolster is a specifically-purposed element designed to house and fortify the pivot area on a folding knife, the use of the term "bolster" confuzzles me when applied to the knife seen above. I sorta get it when the "bolster"-- material of a different color-- is proportionally sane relative to the rest of the handle, but yon Fiddleback "bolsters" tend to slowly oe'rtake the handles.... ]

Oh, and specific to this thread/sale: please switch the blue gum from this week's Kephart onto this week's Sylvrfalcen, or shrink the Kephart into a Bear Cub, and I'll take one of 'em. Thank you.

You're quite right my good man. Perhaps these are better examples of traditional bolsters. Also by the exceptionally talented WA Surls.

Nice score! That's a beautiful Nessie, and a great choice for the first Fiddleback of 2017! Fitting that almost ten years later, the first Fiddleback sold in a new year would be a Nessmuk.
