Fiddleback Friday 12/7/12

Killer wood! Great batch with many excellent choices (no Padre though...;)). The Horduran Rosewood and Cocobolo are stunning.
 
I screwed up the other cut Padre this week, and threw the blank into the dumpster from the grinder. Pretty good shot if I do sayso myself.

dag. I suspected there was a follow-up Padre to last week. I am sure your knife throwing skills are on point by now! If you gots another in the works, it will be mine (hopefully!).

Yes it is, I can attest to that personally. But I really like pointy...just ask anybody that knows me...and I'd like something with similar weight to the machete, but with less flex. I love the size and blade geometry of the Kephart for detail work, and I think the comp cutter with a high grind, if I am remembering the length correctly, would give me the bite I want and not have the flex I don't want. I think that would be an ideal team of fixed blades for me.
 
With the doublemint and the cocobola...this batch is up my alley. Unfortunately, I have no funds. Keep 'em coming Andy. You are an innovator. As Snody would say "much respect".

Really interested in the tapered tang hiking buddy. Not sure how I feel about doublemint g-10, so may need to let that one go to someone seeking the color. I'm just on the fence about it. Can we expect another next week in a different handle (tapered tang)? If not, I may just have to flip a coin...
 
I guess it would also be helpful to know if the hiking buddy is still available before I flip the coin...
 
It is still available. More to come though. I love making HB's.

I was taking the photos yesterday to put one up for sale in hopes of getting the tapered tang maroon Kephart...(haven't seen you make a comp cutter in a while anyway). In the process I decided that, even with as bad as I am wanting to get one of your tapered tangs, I'm just not ready to part with either of the ones I have and am just going to have to wait it out.

Andy, I flipped the coin and lost....so I'll take the Hiking Buddy doublemint g-10. That color really grew on me over the last day or so. 2012 1207 002 is the number for reference. I'll send a PM also.

This fiddleback arrived yesterday (damn customs!) and pictures don't do these things any justice - cant put the thing down! Thanks Andy, now I need to think long and hard about whats next in the set :D (Bushcrafter and now Ladyfinger)
