Fiddleback Friday - 3/14/14

The one I got from you was my second fiddleback and still my favorite by far!
 
Wow, what a nice batch of knives! Some of those wooden handled ones are enough to make me want more wooden handled knives! The ash on that Asp is just stunning, and that curly maple burl is something else!

That said, I am glad I bet on there being no Bushcrafter in this batch and went for VAsticks' KE Bushie in the flea market thread and went on to work. And I didn't get trampled by Will either. YES! I love it when a gamble pays off :D

I've only let 2 Fiddlebacks go and it is very hard. Try to keep the numbers down and avoid duplicates (I feel bad about knives that get too little use:o)

Makes it easier seeing them getting used and loved!

Yeah, I wanted that guy as well. Just 1 response too slow. Very Happy with my Kephart though. Second FB for me and really pumped.

I wanted to just reiterate these two points in case folks missed them. If possible it would be great to make copying the whole description the norm for sharking a knife. It makes it a lot easier for us on this end to keep it all straight. You don't have to of course but maybe we can steer the ship in that direction.

And... $40 Flat Rate for International Shipments.

You mean I can just move to Georgia and learn how to make knives?? Why didn't somebody say so, only a couple hours away I'll start packing.

Knives shipped today. Thanks everybody. A couple of notes - the Post Office website is doing strange things these days, specifically it is shipping everything as "Signature Required." I am not checking this option when I create the labels, so I'm not sure what is happening. Also, not sure if you folks are receiving notification emails but you should be. I put everyone's email address in the field and select the "send email" option.

Also, a reminder to put some description of your purchase in the paypal payment - it helps a lot with sorting out who gets what.

Hi Ken, I wanted to email you, but have not got around to it yet. I actually got an USPS notification of shipment today, the first in three weeks. So probably the rest of the crowd will be SOL this week.

When I received my Sneaky P yesterday I spoke with my mail carrier while I was signing for the package. I asked him about the "signature required" issue and he indicated that it is not an automatic feature with a priority mail package. He said that a shipper needs to select this option and actually pays more for it since it represents a form of security. He went on to say that it does not require the actual signature of the addressee to be captured, in reality if a service worker was standing outside your home, I could have him / her sign for it and that would be acceptable to the USPS. What I forgot to ask was......when the $50 insurance is placed on the package does that automatically require a signature.

I hope this feedback is helpful in you guys capturing the best shipping cost and also helps the buyer's be able to receive their knives with the least amount of attention at home. In my case my new Sneaky P was not able to sneak into my home without my lovely wife asking......who was at the door honey.....and, what's in the box :eek:
