Well. I must type slow. That sexy Bushfinger was gone before I got to the shipping section.

I must say, I'm sad.

All the best to the lucky new owner!
Use it in good health.

LV - I didn't even make it that far! I find out after putting the BF into my cart (my first choice of this weeks' knives) that I was inadvertently logged out of the Fiddleback website. By the time that was corrected, my interests for this week already had new homes.

The Runt and Shank were my favorites this week.
I really like the pinstripes that have been on many of the knives recently. It's probably pretty fun for Fiddleback Fiddleback to have some new looks to play with. My collection has a little of everything so I am happy with it all. Keep up the awesome work!

FBF/Andy & Co. and his and their sublimely beautiful and yet fantastically utilitarian designs and executions have been a great challenge to me since hanging around here in the last year or so. I try oh so hard not to collect for the sake of collecting knives to admire, but only to acquire those which I will actively use, and try as well to not obtain knives that fill the exact same role as each other (see Aspiration #1).

So I pick up a lovely Patch (whoa, the feel of that handle in my mitt!) for EDC/bird & trout, a great Seax Tasker for wood crafty stuff, and a you-gotta-hold-it-to-fully-get-it Emperor for larger game processing/skinning/medium camp duty, - and an old Carver ‘cuz I love that type of blade for just lots of stuff. I should be good ‘cuz my defense blades and big steel needs have been well-covered already elsewhere.

So I am already madly trying to resist the Patch (really love the combo, and that tapered tang is so svelte and gracile), and darn cool Dewcarta Seax-T and Emperor on the site - though I admire them daily. Darn it, at a bare minimum I don’t do doubles, no, no, no!

But that is not enough, is it? No, you start crafting and offering these new handles with bolster/scale/“elbow-turn pinstriping” (my term, that last) that truly, and I mean truly, take my breath away and challenge my long-held Rules that have held my insanity in some slight check for, oh, the last 30-40 years or so, like nothing ever has.

If these were “art pieces,” like beautiful multi material handles produced by a great many other talented knife makers, I would not look twice. If once. But of course these are hard using companions that remain the tools that they are despite the truly sublime beauty of the execution.

That Barracuda a few weeks ago, this Patch, and the Bushfinger (to name a few), as well as that Woodsma are absolutely heartbreaking and could cause one to spend years hoping to track down.

Well, I thought I was moved speechless. Guess not. Sorry to gush so and at length. Maybe I will sometime be so very fortunate as to score one of these new executions at some point. Meantime, I will work on turning heartsick into simple admiration.

I share your thoughts and observations on FBF , currently owning/ using:SOLO(my first snag),BCjr ,CHIEF Special (second snag... remember..??) I am on the look for Patch or HB but can’t decide and thinking about EMPEROR liked to read that you like it although I am not hunting or bush crafting . Also am attracted to bigger all purpose utility LEUKU especially the new steel that FBF is testing.

Ha! Indeed I do remember! And again, good on ya’s!

Emperor is a great all ‘rounder in a midsize design. Great for camp (and bigger home choring). Cuts bigger than other 4” knives IMHO. Does the job of a lot of 5 +” blades well. The Patch is currently one of my three all time favorite EDC’s and is in some heady company. And the handle is my all-time favorite. There is a thin and TT beauty on the site along with a snazzy Emp. Can’t go wrong.

Kenneth, I agree. My once boastful FB's are now peeking out of the drawer, ashamed to show themselves. They lack the piping and contrasting colors that pop and draw every eye in the room.
That first Recluse really did me in. Homerun all the way. I will go toss my Cohutta MT Jr. in the drawer so the FB's will feel a little better about themselves.

Bill, such a sad, sad post! Hyperbole of course - and I am sure they still get their cutting time. But yeah, these handles. . . .
And when I said Patch in my original post, I mean that spectacular Recluse, too. Thought it was a Patch at the time (not that the woody Patch was an ugly duckling or anything!).
