Got the Wenge/Nat Can Bushcrafter; beautiful is an understatement... Many thanks!

I'm very glad when I hear y'all are happy.

Hi Andy, are all the bushfinger knives sold or spoken for?
I just sent a couple messages thru your site(had email issues so had to resend first) but I was looking for a bushfinger with Jade Green, etc. handle...
If I picked up any available bushfinger from you, would I be able to get the handle changed up down the road?
And if any are available, how could I go about paying you for it?

Thanks for your time!

Hi Blood. These have all been purchased. Thanks for asking.

I never change the handle on a knife unless there is a functional flaw in the knife. In over 1700 knives, this has happened only twice. This isn't some dogmatic policy. I have several reasons to give you why it isn't a good idea.
1. Most of my labor by far is hand carving the handle shape. So the economics of the process aren't good. Its no different to just get a new knife.
2. When I knock a handle off and re-handle the blade, I usually wind up loosing close to .1" from the width of the handle edge to spine. This seems small, but it is NOT small whatsoever. If you put an 1/8" pin 1/4" from the edge, then you remove .05" from each side, the look changes drastically.
3. While I consider myself a toolmaker, I also consider the knives my art, and I don't like the idea of banging the scales off the knife without a very good reason.
4. I don't take orders. Buying a knife and immediately asking for me to knock the scales off and do it your way is exactly that, and we just do not take custom orders at Fiddleback Forge.

On a more positive note, I am going to be doing a big batch of Bushfingers next week. There are seven blanks ground and heat treated and ready for Monday morning.

Andy, thank you very much for all the info; very educating, I appreciate you taking the time!! Now that I see you place some of your work on here forsale I will continue to keep checking back.*
I am waiting the arrival of your Hunter model, which I ordered from KSF, natural on natural canvas... I look forward to purchasing a bushfinger or any other of your knives for that matter!*

Have a great weekend and thank you again!

ElCabre, thank you for heads up; the knife you talk of is actually why I was looking for the bushfinger in the Jade handle. And that group of Fiddleback knives was my introdution to Fiddleback Forge! I consider myself lucky to have been online that day, to see them and was lucky enough to be able to buy a Hunter model. If I had previously known about Andy's work I would *have preferred to save money for a Fiddleback rather that the other two knives I recently bought. So it goes... Well, have a good weekend yourself!
