Fiddleback Rarities

Tod,

That is a very cool Hiking Buddy variant with nice spalting to compliment the hidden tang. I assume that you meant to type 3/32" thick steel instead of 3/16" or else that is one stout scandi. :)

Phil

Lol. Thanks Phil. Measurement edited here and on the user pic thread. A 3/16" scandi would have made it even more rare!

Bone Handled Hiking Buddy

This was the original Bone Hiking Buddy. The first Andy ever did. I had to sell it to buy my current contoured version. The contoured version is much more comfortable but I wish I had this one back just for the historical value.

There is a 3rd bone Hiking Buddy out there somewhere. It's a contoured scandi version!

Man, this is a great thread. Its been fun seeing what y'all are holding onto. Mark's recluse there has a piece of Redwood burl I've never seen that pretty. His two Nessies are from my first year, and actually probably the first few batches. Dave posted pics of the only two with bone handles I've ever done.

This week for you rare hawks there are several curley cues, and 5 or so Scandi's. :)

Andy, Didn't you do a 2nd countoured bone hiking buddy? A scandi version?

EDIT:

I found a pic! I believe it belongs to Philip L.

And as of yesterday at least one Bow Legged Joe. Maybe two. And a very rare scorpion. Its a week of rarities.

Doh. You nailed it Dave. Three bone handled knives.

Ah.. countless hours of trolling the internet :D The pic is from a non-official dealer's website from about a year ago. The knife has long since been sold out. As an aside, the knife does appear to be black locust (woot!). Whomever it resides with these days must be very fond of it ;)
