Fiddleback sheath and custom firesteel

Sputnic, I have found it unnecessary to strike the whole length of a FS, the first .5 inch is all it takes, if you rotate the FS each time it wears very little. IMO striking along the whole length is an amateurs way of doing it ;) I will see if I can find a video of Mears using his FS and you will see what I mean.

Gotcha. I don't have much experience with quality leather goods like that. Even my pistol holsters are kydex. What thickness of leather would you recommend as a minimum for a loop?

I use 8-9 oz veg tanned cowhide on my sheaths and loops. Its overkill for that size a knife, 5-6 would be fine, but I tend to like overkill.

That's some nice work there Fiddleback. What happened? One day I look up and wham, your a knifemaker! Good luck my friend, I wish the very best for you.
Man, it must be real nice to not have to go to blade, your there!

Being in Atlanta has its advantages. Besides the hot chicks, I mean.

Thanks bro. Had to upgrade to sell in the makers section. Sucks because my gold membership had several months left on it.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I used to live in Middle Georgia and being an ex big bass fisherman I know all to well why living in Atlanta rules. Look at a map of Georgia and you will see that they built a interstate highway to every major reservoir in the state! Where I had to travel all the back roads you guys get to go in style. On the downside though, the traffic in Atlanta sucks.

Very nice work Fiddleback, Have you got any of those rigs available for sale yet? Knife, firesteel, sheath? That Osage rig is nice but I really like that dimpled/tooled sheath with the dark handle knife with firesteel and orange 550 rig. Scott :D
