Hay ever body my name is Adam Andreasen and I'm Andy's new apprentice. I've been into knives ever since I can remember and I've been making knives not that long. But the short time I have been making knives I've enjoyed it very much!! Knife making is my dream occupation. If you guys have any questions fell free to ask me.

A hearty welcome Adam! I certainly wish you the best in your endeavor!

Sincerely,
Mark

Welcome! Live the dream, man, I'd love to come sweep floors in Andy's shop for a week or two. Look forward to seeing your progress!!!

Good to meet ya! Now go grind me a guard less stainless hiking buddy with a tapered tang and bolsters, please. :D

I'm just kidding but seriously, go do it.... ;)

I met Adam and his dad at Blade Show. He mentioned he wanted to learn to make knives and I explained about my apprentice program. I was very impressed that he had a knife to show. Thats usually a good sign for an apprentice. Then when he showed up for his first day, he actually had brought a mask with him. That was the first time that had happened. So far every job I've given him around the shop has been done very well. His knives have become better week to week as well and his grinds are good right from the start. I wish I had known about knifemaking when I was younger. By the time Adam is my age he will be a true master knifemaker. I am sure he will be better than any of us before its all over. He has the time and the drive. I'm happy to have him on board, and I hope y'all will help me welcome him, and get him up to spped on his foruming.

Adam, I'd like to see some pictures of your shop, and your first knives. Even knife attempts before you had tools.

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing what you have done.

And congrats on the apprenticeship! Based on his customer service, I'd bet Andy is an outstanding man to learn from.

Congrats Adam, you are a very lucky man! I've been looking into knifemakers in Southern California to ask about being an apprentice but Andy would be a dream to learn from and would be the equivalent to working for Thomas Keller, Chef Morimoto, and Mario Battali in the cooking world!

I know that i am blessed to not only have some body show me how to make *knives but also to have somebody like Andy who really knows what there doing.*

When Adam was 13 he told me he was going to make a knife, so he took my old 1983 cold steel tanto as a guide, found a old file in the garage, built a fire in the back yard and kneelled the file. HE spent 2 weeks in the garage with files, a cruddy old vice, and sandpaper. I thought that when he was ready he was going to show me a train wreck, instead i was amazed at his talent and moreover tenacity. For his 16th birthday instead of a car he wanted a belt grinder and a bench in the basement.
I cannot express how grateful and proud I am that Andy has taken him under his wing, Adam has raw talent and a great passion for the craft, Andy requires the highest standards in all he does. I can appreciate the requirement of high standards as I am retired military and spent my career in 2d rgr bn , fco 51t inf lrsc and as a senior instructor at 5th rtb.
THank you Andy for giving him the oppertunity do do what he loves eat sleep grind.

Congrats Adam, it's wonderful that you are doing what you love. I'm sure Andy is a great man to learn from. Look forward to seeing some of your work.
