FiddlebackForge new apprentice

Welcome Adam. Sounds like a great apprenticeship.

Always looking forward to pics of knives and shop

Very neat. Adam is very lucky and I hope to see his artistic talents soon unleashed.
I'm jealous!

Adam wanted a grinder instead of a car? That's commitment. :)
Good luck!

Welcome to the business, can't wait to see your knives. Please post some pictures when you get a chance. You also sound like a fine gentleman and will fit in well with this group.

Adam?

er...you DID read the fine print, wherein after two week's apprenticeship you have to have a Fiddleback Spider tatooed on your forehead, right?

It's a whole "trademark thing" with Andy.

Welcome. Best wishes.

When Adam was 13 he told me he was going to make a knife, so he took my old 1983 cold steel tanto as a guide, found a old file in the garage, built a fire in the back yard and kneelled the file. HE spent 2 weeks in the garage with files, a cruddy old vice, and sandpaper. I thought that when he was ready he was going to show me a train wreck, instead i was amazed at his talent and moreover tenacity. For his 16th birthday instead of a car he wanted a belt grinder and a bench in the basement.
I cannot express how grateful and proud I am that Andy has taken him under his wing, Adam has raw talent and a great passion for the craft, Andy requires the highest standards in all he does. I can appreciate the requirement of high standards as I am retired military and spent my career in 2d rgr bn , fco 51t inf lrsc and as a senior instructor at 5th rtb.
THank you Andy for giving him the oppertunity do do what he loves eat sleep grind.

Thanks for posting Paul. I'm happy to have Adam aboard. He is an asset.
