Field dressing a rabbit with an Opinel Carbone

In the last two weeks I have bought my first two Opinels, a 6 and a 8 both Carbone. Now I just need two rabbits.

I read that yesterday too. Looks like a good way to do it. I always have done it in one piece like a squirrel.

That's a slick way to clean a rabbit, I may have to try that, I have used a GEC 15 clip point boys knife to dress a few squirrels and rabbits, works really well.

Looking at other pics of jack rabbits i'd have to say maybe. Never seen one but their bigger than the cottontails where i live. They get up to two feet in height and guy in the picture might not be very tall either so maybe. Although it looks like the rabbit mother of that thing got raped by a whitetail deer or a kangaroo or was feeding on plants filled with nuke radiation out in the desert.

You think that's real? I couldn't believe it.

The fact that the rabbit is slightly blurry, but the dude is not - makes me think bad split focus trickery (the rabbit is closer to the camera than he is). Big rabbit, but not that big.

HIKE! :D

That's a great way to gut a rabbit. I was taught it years ago. I don't fling the rabbit between my legs however. Just start to squeeze near the rib cage and work your way down to the butt. The guts will squirt out of the butt. I then skin and quarter.

This thread is being moved to Hunting & Fishing

Fbc, that's hilarious! Like dewingrm I too field gut them that way. I usually just do it over my knee. Although I am tempted to try the illustrated method, mind if I come over and try it in your garage?! :D
