Field Knife leather sheath options?

Just got my field knife... holy crap. I love it.

But the sheath isn't what I'm after. Are there any makers that have the field knife pattern available already where I can order some leather?

TBH, the sheath was a downer for me too! I knew in advance that was a minimalist sheath which would fit my horizontal carry plan, but unluckily for me I ended up with a sheath that makes my FK rattle when sheathed, although the retention seems to be good enough. That said, I would not trust it for horizontal carry with this noticeable rattle, just in case!

If I was you, I would hang tight and see what Brian @ Sagewood Gear will do. I emailed him a bit ago and he said he was not gonna do one. But then got back to me that he is trying to get a blank to make one.

Perhaps if everyone who is interested emailed him and let him know they would like to see something made, he will get on it.

I for one would like a Sagewood for my user.

Of course I am open to other options as well.

I hope sagewood agrees to make a sheath for the FK. Email sent to Brian!

I have a Patriot Leather dangler sheath called the Valley Forge that I had made for an Ambush Knives Tundra, and the Field Knife fits in there nice and snug. He has many designs available. If you want any of Patriot's offerings to fit the Field Knife specifically, you can send him the knife and he'll make the sheath.
The build quality is outstanding, very robust and burly.

I'm definitely going to do my own leather when I get my FK.

Good-looking stuff. I am hoping to find someone who has a field knife so they wont need mine. I find myself less than willing to let it go ;)

Do you feel like it fits well enough that it would be worth ordering one for a tundra to use with a field knife?

I took a gamble... ordered the Saratoga-style sheath from Patriot Leather in the Bark River Bravo Squad Leader size. Similar measurements on the knife and being a pouch sheath I can mold it to fit.

I heard from Brian @ Sagewood Gear, they are waiting on the blank for the FK then will start taking orders.

I'm gonna hold out for them.

Wouldn't be the first time I had more than one sheath for a knife. Of course, I hope to have a second FK by then. On the waiting list to pick up a spare.

Sorry Skrapmetal, I just saw your posts now.
I'm sure you won't be disappointed in the craftsmanship and build quality of the Saratoga. My Valley Forge is off the hook beefy and bombproof, and will take continual hard use without breaking a sweat. As I said, my FK fits in there just fine, and I have no problems whatsoever. Is the Tundra sheath a perfect fit? Not really, but really dang close.

Great info. thanks, I need one.

I would be interested in a leather sheath too. Nothing against kydex, just like leather!! A dangler variety would be nice

I found a leather sheath I had made for a Swatmandu to use for now. It's not perfect, and I wasn't a huge fan of the sheath to begin with (hence it being found in a drawer)... but it works.

Sagewood Gear just got the field knife blank today and will be adding sheath to his website tonight

It would be awesome if Sagewood made a deep carry bushcraft style sheath design for the FK leaving only the last handle screw to the pommel exposed. Add a belt loop to that and i would be all over it!

EDIT: Basically like the Patriot Leather sheath pictured above but minus the dangler and fire steel.

Something like this?
