Thanks for the comments guys. Helped cheer me up because it was meant to be a DEER in the pics. Oh well.
Regarding the Badger as a pig sticker, I reckon you want something a bit slimmer. The Badger would do but a SJTac would be better. Less curve, straighter line. You want a good strong, 6 inch straight blade. Some prefer even longer.
The picture is back.
I hope nobody thought it was removed because the cow and I were being inappropriate.
Honestly, what is the world coming to when a picture like this is somehow "offensive".
And guys, please feel free to click the link under the set of photos. It is just a bit of an overview of High country life and the problems they are facing. Dog traps are banned, grazing on the high plains is banned (it was done sneakily this summer or the cattle would have died, and many left behind did). Basically it is becoming impossible to make a living up here.
I imagine it's very similar in the US and other places. It is a real shame that this lifestyle and those who live it is disappearing. They carry a tremendous amount of knowledge which will disappear with them and very soon.
On the other side of the mountain range, (in another state), grazing has been banned for over 15 years. The bush is virtually impenetrable, even by foot, and is choked with all sorts of weeds.
These guys really are conservationists and have kept the mountains pristine, generation after generation. It looked for a time that support from the cities would keep them there but now well meaning interest groups and governments have won out.
Sorry to go off topic but it is something I feel very strongly about and, whether it is the US, Europe, Argentina or wherever, I think it is a tragedy to see this sort of thing happen and for no good reason. The knowledge lost to us all will not be easily (if ever) regained.
