I haven't been able to properly break in my new knives yet so I figured I would at least use them to make a decent meal.

Here is my nessie. I'm really starting to like this design slices and chops(veggies) well.

All the veggies and knives. The nessie slices great but because of its size it was hard to do some of th little stuff like removing the core of the bell pepper. The SAK worked well for that and if I didnt run out of wine I could have opened a new bottle as well.

The wok shot.

And finally, Zeke, who helps me when I spill anything on the floor.

Not a very exciting thread but the knives worked awesome and the dinner wasn't bad either.

a good portion of my knives also see a lot of kitchen duty.. :D

I can't believe that you didn't drink more beer while you were cooking!! Unless that was a second beer in the last pic when the food was done! :D

Seriously....great looking knives and food! -Matt-

I usually use a new field knife in the kitchen first, it's a great test of how they slice. Your dinner looks good too!

Really, for me, food prep is a big part of use while camping so this is a good test IMO:thumbup:

I have to think long and hard to take a knife that is too thick to dice potatos or slice bread.

The hatchet is one made by GLDrew. Its a great little blade that works well as an ulu and also did pretty good on some branches in the back yard.

The nessie is one I got on ebay a few months ago. I'm not sure of the maker. Its about 10" overall, 5.25" blade with a 3/32" thick blade. Its the first nessie style knife I have and I think I'm hooked on them now.

I agree with you hollowdweller, If the knife does not help with food prep then what am I bringing it for. If I actually asked myself this I wouldn't bring so many toys with me when I go for a hike.

Dont worry those were different bottles in the pics and yea the rooster sauce is awesome, I use it almost as much as tabasco. Thanks for the comments guys.

nice pics,

good ot hear the good words on the GLDrew hatchet, i really like the looks of those.

I see you cheated and had one sip of your beer before your meal........:D

Great pictures.......knives look great ~~!

Zeke maybe thinks he should have more than floor duty next time.......:D ....how could you turn down a look like that ? :p

That looks like something that I couldn't cook with years of practice! Very nice knives and dinner my friend.

Well I don't mean to make this a thread about my dinners but I got a new knife in the mail today. I love getting things in the mail, its just like christmas.

The new blade it the Becker BK-10. Its a similiar size to my nessie but quite a bit beefier.

While it is thick, almost 1/4", it arrived pretty dang sharp and sliced very well. It held its own but as compared to the nessie it was simply outsliced by the thinner blade.

It sliced better through the onion than the sausage. I guess this is because it was harder and didn't let the thick blade squish the food.

I guess I'll show the dinner shot. Not nearly as good as last night but still tasted pretty good.

Oh yeah, Zeke was bugging me because I didn't spill near as much food tonight so he got a smoked pig's ear(his favorite). If you look close you can see my esbit stove in the fireplace. It got cold out last night and I wanted to test it after I read about some different stoves in another thread.

Well after using the different blades I think the nessie and hatchet is a great combo but the becker by itself would do just as well IMO.
