FIFTEEN DAYS OVERDUE . . . where's my stuff??

Good thing I already made mine, Those machax danglers take awhile to make. Just finished a piggyback one too.
Oh yea mine has a Machax in it already haha..ha...hmm I want another one though, now would be good.

I'm just getting a Skystorm sheath any way so can I have mine now? I hear that busse has some extra tactical cardboard sheaths they could prob loan Kabar. Nm They'd prob charge em $1357 each but hey its a busse right? Wrap mine in duct tape and get her in the mail. I gotta get sky to work. Idle hands and what not...

in the case of the tweeners, i don't think any actually exist yet in the new laser etched configs. you'll have to wait :)

thatotherguy- Let me know what you think of the bushlore, it really looks pretty interesting for the price. I'm thinking of one for my dad as well.
M'kay. Here it is. The knife is a good Tweener holdover, f&f on mine is almost perfect, handles are comfy on the level of Becker, the steel is easy to sharpen, and the leather sheath that comes with it is worth more than what most places are charging for the whole shebang.
Skystorm, you have some competition.
Cons- the knife retains in the sheath too well, it's hard to draw from the belt, and if you have lovehandles like me, you could cut yourself pretty bad. Also, be prepared to sharpen it out of the box, the edge sucks. I ghetto convexed mine with a Smith's stone and a DMT diafold, as I do most of my slicers. It now cuts like a dream.

I ghetto convexed mine.../snip/..

I know of this method, seriously... If you don't have a strop handy, plain cardboard works very well for honing, even without compound to a degree.

I have found that when I go to sharpen and eventually reprofile new knifes that after getting a nice solid even edge profile I like with a (lansky/guide system) then hitting some light sandpaper mousepad and stropping (which is my preferred honing method over, say the Sharpmaker) yields an amesome result. Just like rocking back the edges a little. I'm sure there are much better methods out there and I don't have the tools/space to Fisk one of mine but I imagine it yields a similar result?

I have a worksharp that I am currenty terrified to put any knifes I like through it....

ETA: uh, yeah... Where is my stuff! I can't even pay someone ahead of time some cold hard USD so they can ship this directly to me? :D

Oh I strop, it's just the finishing touch. The Bushlore came with a Scandi grind, so I thinned it out on a nice shallow angle and then sharpened it on a slightly less shallow angle, creating a secondary bevel on the main bevel, and thus a convex effect. it works very well, and then out comes the green compound laden strop.

I understand manufacturing and logistics and realize it's not an exact science. BUT, here we are 3-1/2 weeks past the 'availability' date on the BK14 scales and the Machax. Doesn't give much assurance that the Tweeners will actually be available on or about the first of April . . . :grumpy: :emot-yarr:

Does anyone on this forum actually have enough pull with Becker to obtain a definitive answer as to about when the new stuff will actually be available?

I know he's got lots to do, but would it be completely out of line to ask Toooj on the Kabar subforum this question?

Inquiring minds want to know . . . ;)

I doubt Ethan Becker has any control over large scale mfg and shipping issues. I also doubt that KABAR is anything other than completely busting ass to get these products on the marketplace.

I work in EHV construction, and you'd be surprised at the delays that can occur with $25M projects where their completion in a timely manner is utterly critical for other associated projects with dollar values in the hundreds of millions. It's just, like, life... man. Stuff happens. Our eighty-dollar knives will get here eventually.

Agree. . . But still feel someone at Becker could make an effort to keep us posted. Just an indication they are aware of our angst and are working at it would help! :)

ooh, you can tell the future! heh. got any good stock picks? :)

Pull? PULL? we talk to the guy all the time. Honey Badger don't know. the ship is late. whatever. handwave :D

don't bug Toooj. ask Official KaBar if you must but you're not going to get much more than you see here. at least 2 of your 3 mods (like me) talk to KaBar fairly regularly (hourly for Moose ;D)... we don't know, they don't know. it's like a package with no tracking. on the way is the best we can do. maybe some Kraken ate the shipping container.

as for making an effort? trust us, we're on it. what kind of updates would you like? today? no. tomorrow? no. this week? no. the exact business are propietary. we're not privy to that. "sheaths not ready" is the best we got. steel is flowing. dealers are ready.

if you think you're grumpy, some of us have been waiting YEARS for this. sum of us are what you call Machax obsessed :> waiting is intolerable, but we wait. we be patient. the "ship date" was approximate i believe. exact dates are tricky.

when they are available, you have NO worries that information will FLOW. most LIKELY before dealers see a glint of steel, but days later, probably :)

samples. passarounds. pictures. they will occur :) oh yeah.

now if there was some way you could get your hands on various tweeners to premake templates for sheaths ;)

keep in mind the new machaxes are a wee bit slimmer than any you likely have

They have. Many times. The sheaths are coming from China, ETA is as of yet unknown. Perhaps we should get Hu Jintao to confirm the delay?

BS on 'many times'. Unknown ETA . . . obviously. But someone in the purchasing or procurement business at BKT must have some information they could share.

And I don't know Hu Jintao . . .

I don't think anyone wants to part with their tweener for a bit so I can do some pattern making, Unless your volunteering some? Loads of ideas on paper.

I slimmed down one of my machaxes for this reason lol, The swedge is the only thing that I may have to adjust for.

At least the Tweeners will come with a decent, if ugly in comparison, sheath. That'll make playing with them a little more bearable ;)

indeed. MANY TIMES. in multiple theads. deal :)

we have a DIRECT line to the big names at KaBar. sheaths delayed. that's the news until they say different. several of them post here too.

seriously, it's like nobody believes :)

well, at a minimum, i bet someone might have a traced template on thick cardboard :) :>

or a 1:1 photograph on graph paper. mmm.

That would be nice, It's usually the forming for the handle though that is hard to do without the actual knife
