Fighter/bowie with Crazy Hamon

Wow! Is that going to be called the "New York Special"? Great lines and flow (again!). I can tell you were glad to get back to making some bad fixed blades! Great job with this one, Don.

The high layer W2/iron damascus you forged is going to have some wild and crazy results from the looks of this one!

I have never cared for S guards my preference has always been for a fighter guard, however I feel Don is takin a decidedly non traditional approach to his fixed blade designs...his pieces are all about flow and movement. The dropped tip also contributes to a piece that is lively and kinetic. I Love it!

I agree Riad. I like the slope of the blade.
You can tell at a glance that it's a pleasure to handle.

I can't even go out to dinner anymore.
I am going to have to have BladeForums plugged into my eyeglasses like the BORG!

Beautiful knife Don!

:D That was real good Peter :D

Riad, you nailed it, I have been heading in a different direction. I've said it before, you should be a writer.

Thanks agian Guys.

Another positive vote for the guard style. I think it works really well on this particular knife too.

That said, the steel is the definite eye-catcher here for me. Stunning. I'll agree with Joss that the profile isn't exactly to my liking, but overall an excellent knife with a uncommon look.

Beautiful piece of ivory too.

Have to agree with Riad, you just seem to top each piece with the next.
Amazing fossil walrus, the guard works for me as well.
I thought the "lightning struck" hamons,if you remember what I'm talking about, were incredible but this one is just beyond anything.

I don't know how I missed this post but I love the knife!!! Great Job Don!
Forge blindness, Craig?:D By the way....i got that little fighter of yours from Bob. Very nice:thumbup: Incidentally, I'm going to be ripping off your belt loop/ keeper strap design on the sheath for my first attempt at leatherwork. I like the high rise postion and I won't have to skive any leather, so that will make my life easier:D

Here's a pic of the butt end.

Thanks all :)
He said butt.....huh, huh, huh, huh:p Don...are you going to be at Batson's or any other hammer-ins before Blade? I may have to twist your arm about some instruction for compensation, my friend, You are making precisely the kind of cool stuff that I would like to be making.........in 15 or 20 years.... Well, except for that whole folder thing you do:D

I know what you mean. i missed everything last year, even the Guild show whichis a short day trip for me and had to cancel my trip to the fall hammer-in. This little show in Lakeland willbe my first knife event pretty much since I quit forging at the beginning of last year. I willmis Tracy Dotson's hammer-in up in the Panahndle (brother's 40th b-day in Key West) but I plan to make it to Batsons, the Spring Hammer-in at Washington and Harleys. Oh, and of course, Blade. Wish I could come to the NY show, but not possible. Are you going for your MS stamp this summer?

I do plan to go for my MS at Blade this year and I'll be at the Guild show. There is no excuse for you to miss the Guild show, as close as you are :)
