I met Don McIntosh last year at the Blade Show, where he tested for his JS Stamp.
Don is a full time teacher of physical education at Texarkana College, which just happens to be the location of the ABS Bladesmithing School.
He mentioned that one of the perks of his job is free admission to any of the ABS classes, to improve his knifemaking skills.
He rattled off a list that sounded like a "whose who" list of ABS Master Smiths that he has taken courses from in recent years.
This tidbit of information coupled with the nice steel already on his table, had me ready to buy a nice Ironwood Fighter.
But I resisted because I was starting to think how much better his knives might be six months down the road.
I placed an order with Don and the great result is pictured below. I am sorry for the large image, but I wanted you to see all of it!
FWIW, I placed my second order with Don, when this one arrived.
The Blade is 6.75" of 52100, and it is 11.75" overall. The guard is stainless and the handle is stabilized block of Redwood Burl with a mosaic pin.
