Hello all,
Just finished an order for 4 of these "fighters" for a friend who teaches knife fighting. The design was his modification of a knife that I had made.
It is 3/16 O1, with 416 stainless guard and pommel. The pommel end of the knife is cut with a 20 line per inch checkering file. This is to help dig into an adversary to help control. The top clip is not sharpened. Finish is ferric chloride dip. Scales are cut from horse stall mat (new, not used). This stuff is very grippy and pretty easy to work. All held together with stainless pins and Acra-Glass.
Blade is 4.25 from tip to bolster, handle on this one is about the same. The other 3 have different handle lengths and profiles to fit their owners specs.
Sheath is 9-10 oz. Has kydex prongs inset to hold knife. Snaps in and out easily and securely.
This is the first order I have done for a series of knives. The owners like them. Just thought I'd get some feedback from here.
Thanks for looking,
Chip Kunkle

I guess I will be the first... I think they are great looking.... good size.. like the handele material... I am going to have to try the horse mat material. andf I am a fan of the ferric chloride finish... looks good sir.

Thanks Andrew,
You will like the horse stall mat. Works easy with 40-50 grit. Then smooth with 120 or so. Epoxy seems to hold well. Even immune to the feric chloride when I had to do a touch up on the handle. Stinks like burning rubber (which is exactly what it is). As an old drag racer, I like the smell, reminds me of the days of fast cars and hot women or at least the cars. I originally had a more curved handle shape, but my friend requested the flatter design. Seems to go well, got 4 orders.

Good looking blade. As soon as I pin myself down to what I want, I'll be contacting you.
