I have no idea why you would say a fighter is double edged.....not all fighters are....a lot of nice pictures in here of all sorts of fighters......

I'm not sure to whom broe is referring but while few fighters would be double edged, there is always the question as to whether a knife is fighter or bowie -- what is the next one?

I have other bowies too and who knows exactly how to classify things as if one looks at the name, did not James Bowie "fight" with his Bowie which likely really was nothing much more than a nice forged kitchen knife?

And the debate will go on.

i'm diggin the short sword...

i suppose to me...a fighter is a medium sized knife double edged with a small guard or the hint of a guard. Something quick in the hand

Yes, you can use any knife as a fighter, Bowies come to mind immediately - but when someone says fighter knife, i think of a medium sized double edge knife

Double-edge does not define a fighter for me. There have been any number of fighting knives over the years and across many cultures that were single edged. It's a category that, for me, embraces significant diversity is dimension and design. I like that. And yes, there isn't so much of a line separating fighter and bowie as there is a very broad and hazy buffer zone.

With a double edge, I tend to think of "dagger". I have a piece by Patrick Donovan

medium800.jpg

which is double edged but not fully as you can see. I still classify it as a dagger particularly due to blade width and being primarily double edged.

This knife by Tai Goo, is one I think I should have probably classified as a fighter but then again, how does anyone classify anything done by Tai??

Here a couple of mine that I would consider fighters
