Fig. 4 is a great tool for carving practice. This reminds me I gotta do more of them. Its still not second nature for me and I have to think about my cuts as I'm doing them.
Although it can't be seen in the photo there is a small flat rock hiding under the vertical support. I tried to get a picture of it flying apart, but could not get the shutter speed correct. I did not use it to trap anything, just trying wood in a different area. The creosote was so oily that I had to roll it in the sand to give it enough friction to keep the pieces together.
