Hello all, i dont know if this falls under a riddle but here it is: There are 2 doors. In front of one door stands a man who always tells the truth. In front of the other door is one who always tells a lie. these fellas know each other well. behind one door is heaven and behind the other door is hell. Question--how would you figure out which door leads to heaven. remember you dont know at what door either man is standing at. For those of you that already know this riddle-hang loose abit, or if you must go ahead and reveal the answer. The person who gets it and explains how to get the answer will recieve the buckeye burl. thank you--marekz --enjoy---conus only please

well if you ask a man who tells the truth-- what if your asking the liar--you dont know which man tells the truth or tell a lie. to win you have to explain how you came to the conclusion that one of those doors goes to heaven.-thankz-marekz

This seems really easy so there must be a catch...

Is there a limit to the number of questions you can ask?

If not... here's what I'd do.

1) Ask each a question that is obvious and you already know the answer to like:
  • Are you a man?
  • Are you standing in front of a door?
  • Are you Barak Obama?
From these questions you can determine who is the liar.

2) Then just ask the one who tells the truth whether he is standing in front of the door to heaven or hell.

Did I miss something?

Erin

You ask either of them what the other one will say about which door leads to heaven then you choose the opposite one.

When you ask the liar about the other guy "what would he tell me is the correct door" He's going to tell you the other guy will say opposite of what door it actually is because all he does is lie.

When you ask the one who only tells truth what the liar will say he's going tell you the opposite one of what it really is because he will always lie.

So whatever either one of them tells you all you have to do is choose the opposite door

OK guys 1 thing i forgot to add----YOU CAN ONLY ASK ONE QUESTION TO ONE OF THE 2 PEOPLE IN FRONT OF THE DOORS----BIG SORRY--MAREKZ

and with that said--i dont think it would have made a difference--?????? more or less got it. But since i forgot to adsd the above -ill need to thing if or how ill deal with the other answers--marekz WAIT LET ME LOOK AT THE ANSWERS AGAIN BEFORE I PICK A WINNER> NO MORE ANSWERS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!MAN I SUCK_MAREKZ

Brilliant Fletch.

I was going to assume the honest man stood in front of the door to heaven. If that premise is right, then all I'd need to do is ask either man a yes or no question I know the answer to like, Do one of these doors lead to heaven and the other one lead to hell? If the answer was true, yes, then that's the honest man and I'd choose is door to heaven. If the answer was not true, no, then that's the dishonest man and his door goes to hell. This would only work if my major premise is correct.

I'd think I might to better to go with Fletch until he found out which door he was going to open to go to heaven, then ask him if I could have that piece of buckeye Marekz gave him on bladeforums before he ascends.

Keith ask a questions---no answer --he is out
MGORDON-basically that cant work cause you dont know who is telling the truth and who is the liar "The truthful person will say no and the liar will say no" How would you know that the truthful person is telling the truth if you dont know which one it is and how do you know the liar is lying if you dont know which one it is.
ERICKBURKE--did not get the missing item I added--not his fault--mine
Fletch-Nailed it right on the money
