Hey guys, well i've been pretty sparatic on making my knife as it has been very cold, handle needs a little work still, but this is the general shape.

Made from an old file,
I cant rememer right now, but I think its a little over 3/16"
Lace wood handles.

I though I had a few more handle shots, but they are on the other computer. I think it came out ok for my first, if you can remember it was made with a Bench mounted belt sander( with an old belt I might add) and a bench grind with a bucket of water( which froze at night, think I would remember huh?:D)

The looks of that knife are great. Only you can tell us how does it hold an edge and if the heat treat was done right, but i assume you have been reading a lot here in the forum and figured it out right.
Now get out and start using it!

I like it  Lacewood is one of my favorites, especially after you rub a little linseed oil on it.(and I know what you mean about the frozen water, my shop is cold too)

I think the knife looks great for a first effort.

Funny you guys talking about frozen water buckets, I do most of my grinding this time of year (when work is slow) and it seems the water bucket always has some ice in it or is frozen solid (I’ve cracked a few buckets).

My hands are either ice cold from the frigid steel and the breeze off of the grinder or my finger tips are burning from holding the hot steel.

But I muss confess that the 10 degree garage this time of year is preferable to the 100 plus degrees it is in the summer.

Looks good Fonly. Thicker than I remember it. Yep, rub a little oil in that handle and make it glow!

What is great is that he made this knife with the things you see on the bench: A few random gloves, a Sabre Saw, a quick clamp, and one cigarette butt! McGuyver lives!

THat thing looks awesome! I really like knives that are made out of files and that one is SAWEET!

A great first effort Fonly, well done!

Now we need pics of the test drive.

All the best,
