These blocks just came back from getting stabilized by K&G. I just finished adding them to our web store.
This link will take you to the Brand New Pieces category in our web store.
The way these blocks are cut the figure is kind of in between Flamed and Quilted.
The figure is very chatoyant and shows a lot of movement as you will see in this video. I thought they looked really good. Hopefully you will too.

These blocks were not dyed. The coloring developed from spending several years in a creek in SW Oregon.
I cut these blocks from a crusty old maple burl that I got from a wood turner that said he is too old for woodworking anymore. When he got this burl he said he tossed in the creek to let it color up and then let it finish drying in his barn. I really like how these blocks turned out.

I just finished posting these blocks in our web store. Use this link to go to the Brand New Pieces section of the store.

Here are photos of the burl when I cut it in half to see what was inside.

These blocks were just added to the web store this evening. This is from the Redwood buying trip my wife and I went on a short while back. When you cut the raw wood you get an idea what they will be like, but you don't know for sure until they get stabilized and then cleaned up.

I am very happy with how these turned out. Great color and excellent burl figure. It is hard to say which I like best.
These new blocks are cut extra wide so you might be able to get a couple matching handles from one block.

This link will take you to the Brand New Pieces that were added to the store today. The photo looks lighter and more orange than the blocks will in real life. That always happens with the group photos. The individual photos in the store are much more accurate.
I think you will like what you see. Even if you selected the lowest priced, most bland looking piece, you would still get a beautiful piece of wood.

I had thought about holding back the 3 Redwood Blocks with the dark eyes but decided to list them at the last minute. So....somebody buy them quick before I change my mind.

Damn Mark, sometimes I see that highly figured maple and I imagine some of them dyed in some colors to really make them pop even more.
