Anybody got any?

I'm new here to Blade Forums,
But it was his knives and his designs that brought me to this wonderful place.
So I must ask…. Whatcha got? Or what are you wishing for?
Newer or Older Versions.
Its all good. As they're all awesome.
Let see those pics.

When I was new here and awkwardly stumbling around Jimmy befriended me and helped me immensely in learning the ropes of posting on an internet forum.
You see my first day on the internet and the first thing I actually did was join Blade Forums. because of my love for knives, particularly Custom knives and I was immediately drawn to Jimmy Fikes work.

Long story short, I sent him a Shiva Ki Spirit blade to test against one of his blades, which he and Matt Lamey did exactly that.
In return, Jimmy would send me one of his to compare, cut and chop with.

Jimmy fell off the back of his truck while packing to move and was hurt severely so things got put on hold for a while.

As promised and while he was mending he sent me said knife and I got to give it a workout.
My results were similar to his and Matt's, it is a cutting MONSTER !

I will always be grateful to him for what he did for me as far as internet acumen and his willingness to follow through on his word.

First images are Jimmy's blade and the bottom one is his blade (unwrapped handle) and the Shiva Ki blade I sent him.

Sorry this isn't as short of a post as I thought it would be.

Jimmy is my hero. :)

Welcome to BF, you've certainly picked a maker that is truly a friend and one of the pioneers of the forging movement. I've been chasing Jimmy's knives since I first read about them in the old "Fighting Knives" magazine. Here's a link to a album I keep up on Jimmy's knives, there are scans of some articles, too:

My Avatar is a sculpture Jimmy had done. A true Renaissance Man.

I've been a long admirer of Mr Fikes work and had no idea he was injured. I wish him speedy recovery.

Big thanks to Dudley for helping me procure this Bos'n. It gets quite a bit of belt time. One of my favorite knives. :)

Great insight into some Jimmy Fikes history. Thanks for sharing.
He seems to influenced many. And its good to hear first hand stories.
Beautiful knife!
Curious what were your findings.

Win,
What a great album. You can almost see the evolution of his work.
Any idea on how the flower logo came about from his initial logo?

I also associate the green para cord wrap as part of his signature. It was interesting to see a few other red varieties in that album.
I'm sure theres a story behind that as well.

And those sculptures are amazing.

That Bos'n is sweet!
I see that the logo has more color. Is this the new design for Fikes II or the next evolution of his logo I wonder?

Win, I keep staring at this beauty!

Back in the '90s there were a few of us lusting after Jimmy's work, Matt Lamey, John Johnson a fellow from the wilds of NJ and a couple of others. I don't know how many Jungle Honeys he made but it took be years to get this away from John.;) Jimmy and Don Fogg collaborated on a "Cloud Cutter" or two, I know Joss on here has one, maybe he'll post a picture.

Here's a cleaver I got a year or so ago, not sure of the vintage:

Jimmy's blades just scream..."Use Me!"

Nice seeing so many here.

Both are so amazing… Would love to see the difference between the two.
I've read that this is Jimmy's original design, any insight on how he came up with it? a divine inspiration, forgers dream, an upcoming jungle camping trip need?
I ask, as I just love to hear back stories.

Is there a way to tell the vintage of any of his knives?

I don't think there is a real way of dating them, with some makers it's the logo but not Jimmy. As to Jimmy's logos, I've seen the blossom, his chop and a what he calls "cat scratch".

This one has always been one of my favorites...

Of course, we both know about assuming things… but my assumption is the blossom is the latest greatest. And the chop and scratch are more vintage. Or have you seen some more recent knives with those marks/logos?
