Fikes Knives……Whatcha got? Whatcha want?

I've never cared whether someone knew that some guy named Fikes had made the blade they were using. so much as that they knew they were using a good blade. People and names fade away but a good knife will last for generations of use.

Old Crazy Jimmy

That's going in my book of quotes. Nice one.

Love all these pics of Fikes knives by those that enjoy his work.
And his knives seems to be super sharp and hold a great edge.

I am the curious sort being new to all this…..
What I haven't seen is how most of you store your Fikes blade when they're not in use.
Anyone have an sheathes made? or even use them at all?
Anyone have an amazing looking sheaths to go with his knives?
As I can only imagine that being hard to create, a sheath that pairs well with the look of a Fikes knife.

It isn't amazing looking, but this is the sheath that I made for my Bos'n. I carry and use mine all the time, usually IWB around 11 o'clock.

There was a time when some of Jimmy's knives came with pouches by Robert Schrap. I did carry a Cabin boy for a couple of years in one these, worked out fine but you had to be real careful when inserting the knife. I keep wanting to send some to David Brown for Kydex but never get around to it.

I have others sheathed by Lifter, Blade - Tech and the Parang in a weird sheath from France. I didn't commission any of these.

Here are a couple of earlier pieces from Jimmy in Bob Schrap pigskin pouch-style sheaths.....a Cabin Boy and a Fiddlers Bitch. :)

Good to know. Mr. Brown is the Kydex guy. Anybody you love for leather that will work with Jimmy's style?

Thanks Dudley!
Those look good. And seem to go well. Does he still make sheaths? Is he on the Forums?

Here are a couple I was able to add to my collection within the year. My first, and hopefully not last. I am a big fan of his work.

It's good to see a variety of Jimmy's work, like the top one from Joe. Here's a wicked Fighter, I'm guessing early '90s? It's unusual in that it's really basic but yet is polished. Different logo placement and trademark inclusion in the steel.;) Wicked sharp. Schrap sheath.

Joe,

Congrats on the excellent classic additions to your collection.

Win,

Shiniest Fikes I've ever seen.

Doug :)

Joe and Win…..
Those are some nice Fighters.
Cool to see the differences.
Did he typically do those in Burgundy Cord or are those more Rare?

Man, I really dig the blade profile on that top one! And the bottom one too, but really like that big boy. :)

when i carry i stupid grin on my face for no obvious reason during a whole day, the reason might be my unfortunately one and only, but very pocketable fikes:

Hans…
THAT is a beautiful Fikes knife…. thanks for posting pictures of it.
Gonna spend some time just staring at these images.
Art and Function in your pocket!

How do you carry it around? I don't see a clip. Hopefully its riding solo in a pocket.
Jimmy

Hans,

So you're the one , Congrats and I wholeheartedly agree with Dudley !

yes, solo and naked, but only in the back pocket. it is friction folder, so it is a good idea to check the blade position before you sit down. you don't want shears in your front pocket :D
