Has anyone had any experience with ASMC Industrial, in particular their files? http://www.asmc.net/flat-bastard-file-12-nos/. Great prices, but I'm leary as to the quality. Can't be too much worse than the Brazil/Mexico stuff from Nicholson/Apex. The Simonds Honduras stuff isn't bad, but I'm always on the lookout for quality files at good prices. Thanks for your input!!!

I've scored some insane deals on Pferd files on Amazon. They're german made, and very good quality. I got a Corinox file for $6 (special coated file for stainless steel). They are usually around $40 for an 8" flat. I got a 14" half round beast for $2.47 shipped, usually a $50 file.

Amazon has some wild price swings, and if you look through their file selection, particularly Pferd if you're looking for good quality, you can find outliers that are way outside the average price for even a cheap file.

edit: I've gotten a total of 7 or 8 on a few separate occasions, but there's usually one or two decent deals to be had if you dig. I also got some Simonds black oxide files for $2-3, I think they're spain or Portugal, but they're good quality.

I had a fellow give me two new Pferd files a couple of years ago. I had never heard of them, but they have been the best files (especially for draw filing), that I have ever had.

Nicholson just ain't what it used to be since they moved off-shore.
